Loved the room , the attention and the food. The ranger Mauritz was amazing.Had a massage at the amani Spa, and is one of the best I have ever had. A 5 star experience
A wonderful experience, great guides from Ivory Tree Lodge, the park is wonderful, with locals and tour operators using the park.
Want to see the Big 5 then Pilanesberg is your spot. This park is big enough to hold a decent amount of wildlife including the Big 5 whilst not having to drive 100s km to see it. Most of the roads are reasonably maintained dirt roads with the primary roads being well maintained bitumen. An SUV for the roads and height when game viewing will pay off. The newly revamped Pilanesberg Centre offers a small shop, curios and restaurant with decent priced food all while watching the wildebeest out front. We have been here a number of times and it always impresses both for its general nature and wildlife. A must do in our opinion.
The park is situated in an ancient volcanic crater. It has a mixture of tar and dirt roads with a number of game hides where you can get out of your car and sit in a hide an look at the animals. one can travers the Park comfortably in 2 - 3 hours. The bird life is magnificent. The wild game is lovely. The park does not have the quantity of animal herds like the Kruger park etc but it does have the variety. A benefit is that there is no malaria in the area and it is an easy 2 hour drive from Johannesburg. We saw Rhino, elephant, jackal, Hippo, Lion, Giraffe and lots of Buck. A wonderful rest.
The park was very clean and the signs easy to follow. We were lucky to see Zebra Wart Hogs antelope and Giraffe and numerous beautiful Birds.
There is not much to say for the Pilanesberg with the exception that it is one of my favourite places to go to. I love the area, there are always lots of animals around and it is a beautiful place. This time around every animal species had babies and we had a wonderful experience, as always!
We took two drives and managed to see 4/5 Big Five, and although we have no experience with other safari's I was pretty happy with that fact. We also saw a lot of zebra's, impala's, giraffe, .... and met an elephant that threw a small tree to our truck. Good memories!
Wow what a fabulous time we had. We went on 5 game drives and saw so much thanks to our fabulous ranger - Izra. He tracked down the big five and has left us with memories that will last forever. We also saw a family of Happy Hippos playing by the water hole and lots of elegent giaffes, lots of Zebras, Waterbuck, Gnus, Gnazoos(!),Springbok, Impala, Red Hartebeest, Mongoose, Hares, a Leopard Tortiose and some beautiful birds. The Ivory Tree Lodge was lovely and clean and staff brilliant and the food delicious and drinks very reasonable with cocktails starting at £3 each! I will recommend to friends and family as this is the place to visit.
Did a self drive safari and enjoyed every minute. Easy to navigate with plenty of signs to help find our way with the help of the map which is available at the entry gate. Lots of hides to get out and observe some of the watering holes, saw plenty of wildlife around the park. There is also a pleasant cafe in the park for refreshments.
Spent a few hours doing a self guided safari and saw everything except for the cats and rhinos. Food at Cafe delicious, maps easy to read and park easy to get around. Came back for a guided tour at dusk and saw rhinos too! Love the scenery and the accessibility of the park. Well worth a visit
