Poatina is partly made up of a rich community of artists, including glass blowers, painters, sculptors, musicians, writers, photographers, and so on. The Poatina Tree is a gallery, but it acts as more of a display cabinet of precious works that are the pride of the community. Attached to a cafe, this was a great place for us to spend some good time looking and thinking, appreciating what has come from not just individuals, but a community who collaborate and actively support each other. This support is evident in the gallery, and the surrounding village. Well worth some good time, and space to take in this rich creative environment. You may even get the chance to chat to one of the artists, dropping in to the cafe for a coffee.
