Don't stop without grabbing some apple cider donuts - you won't find better anywhere! Very charming place to visit, a bit off the beaten path but definitely worth the trip!
We have been coming here forever. Yes the prices might be a bit high for the apples but they are worth the price. Weekends are always busy so come early if you can or maybe later in the day. This is a family place with things to do for all ages. We love the wagon ride out to the orchard so we can pick your own apples. If that is not for you .. they have bags of apples in the big barn for sale. What we seem to like the most is those hot fresh apple cider donuts with a cold carton of milk, yum, yum. Please note that this is a cash or check only place and they do have a ATM machine.
We enjoy going every year it seems this year everything was up in price I know they need to make it in a small amount of time . Was very busy and a great day weather wise so we had a great time. A must to do but bring some cash.
Was excited to go to get apples and cider..the apples they were cutting for samples were large and pretty good...so I bought 6 apples of one kind and 6 of another. My granddaughter grabbed the bags and I told her I would help her but she said "grandma these aren't heavy"... I should have looked in bag but I thought ok she's got them. Bought apple cider and ended up buying fudge (which I thought was really expensive). Get home and the apples were the size of a walnut! Peel them, core them and I was lucky to get 2 bites!! What!!! They cost me over $12!!!! Opened the apple cider and my granddaughter said it tasted strange?!?... I figured she just wasn't used to fresh apple cider..no problem...next morning I poured myself a glass and it tasted like vinegar!!! Really disappointed in everything I purchased! Too expensive to make that trip again!! I think they need to pay closer attention to their product control!!!!
Went there today for a family get together and was shocked by the prices for Apple picking. 40 dollars for a basket, 2 basket minimum for 12 people. I had to look at the sign twice because I thought I read it wrong. Sadly I did not. And we also found out they don't accept credit cards. At the price of the apples and if they want to draw in more business they may want to rethink things. Sadly we will not be going to that one again. Found and amazing Orchard in Indiana worth the trip.
Back to Edwards after 25 years. Much bigger gift store but the the doughnuts, pie with ice cream and apples remain, all very good.Well worth a trip especially with kids and grandkids to create those lifetime memories
If you are in the Rockford/Belvidere Ill area in the fall a visit to this place is a must. It has fun for all the family and the Doughnuts are worth the trip alone! (buy extras, one bag won't make it home! Lots of other good things to eat and buy to take home, I realy liked the vadalia onion steak sauce, and the apples that you can buy ready to go or upick off the tree last year were the best I ever had. The admission is free but you will pay premium prices to pick apples and if you are not up to a walk or have a bunch of small ones you my just want to buy in the store and take home.
Every year for over a decade we have traveled 2 hours to experience the apple picking and raspberry picking at Edward's Apple Orchard. Their huge barn has a wide selection of soups, fresh fudge and apple cider doughnuts, apple smoked bacon and at least 10 varieties of apples-autumn beauties are our favorite. The cafe has pulled pork, fresh soups, and granny apple pie. There is a huge park and pony rides for the kids. Admission and parking are Free. Edward's is well worth the trip-it will become an annual family tradition, no doubt.
We made a trip to visit Edwards Orchard right at the end of the season in late November. The hot cider and fresh donuts were a delicious treat and we enjoyed wandering the shop. With snow already on the ground, much of the other parts of the orchard were already closed so there was little to do besides shop and sample the cider, but the smell of the fresh donuts cooking made it worth it! They did still have some nice photo -op cutouts outdoors and we enjoyed taking some fun pictures with the family. I think it's a good stop - it just would have been even better earlier in the fall!
