A great place to spend the day or weekend. Great family fun. There are bike trails, places to rent kayaks, paddle boards, and boats. There are beaches for family fun and places to picnic.
Having grown up just a couple of miles from the park I always desire to go back to visit. The park has been kept in the natural state so you don't have the homes lining the lake like you would find in so many other parks and lakes. If you are looking for a great place to hike or fish or just relax in the woods and listen to the wildlife, this is the place to do it.
Great state park just North of Butler. Has a highly rated disc golf course and a wonderful lake for sailing, kayaking, or fishing. Quite a variety of hiking trails and a paved bike trail. Includes a native plant butterfly trail and a working antique old well with a restored Bessemer engine. Hosts a Regatta the first weekend in August with lots of food, entertainment and activities for all ages.
Ive been to Moraine more times than I've been anywhere - I bring my bike and my kayak and spend the whole day - I love the beaches, the water and the trails.. Love Love Love!!
We were able to find a nice trail just inside the park to unwind from our trip. Wouldn't mind going back one day to explore further.
has good fishing from the bank and with boat nice camping area and decent boat docks good picnic areas nice family hang out
Rented kayaks on a a beautiful day. Very reasonable rates compared to city. The lake is gorgeous. There are also motor boats on the lake but they are suppose to follow the no more than 20 mph. You do catch some of their wake, but no big deal. We were able to kayak anywhere and everywhere on the lake. The kayak rentals are not the most comfortable but totally acceptable for two or three hours. No problems getting in or out of kayak, they have a nice launch pad that your feet never touch the water.
it is a beatiful place. it nice and quiet. a nice place to pininc, swim, and play games. my boys love the room to run.
Wonderful bike trails that are paved. You can see nature while you pedal. The hiking trails are shady and take you through some fabulous wilderness. Only negative is that the trail could use some restrooms/port-o johns along the trail. It's hard when you have kids with you and they need to use the potty.
One of the largest man made lakes in Pennsylvania. It is 7 miles long and has 42 miles of shoreline. Lots of good fishing. The park service only allows engines up to 20 horse power. There is a nice boat ride available on the Nautical Nature that is 1 1/2 hours long. It costs $12 for adults and $5 for children under 12. $10 for seniors.
