Holiday was during winter, so we saw 3 big males and a handful of females sunning themselves on the bank. The two tour guides were tops, and lunch and tea were delicious. Definitely on of the best tours I've been on period!!!!!
This was by far the best day excursion we have done. The day started with a close up look at some snakes and some information about Australian snakes. The was followed by "billy can tea" and damper. Then off on a 2 hour tour through the wetlands to see the flora and fauna all the time we were presented with an excellent commentary from a really knowledgable guide. We had a bush soap demonstration and got to lick an ant's bum - yum. BBQ lunch was provided. This wasn't the usual burger and snags but beef, fish and chicken plus bread and salads. The lunch was plentiful and delicious. After lunch it was onto the boat for two hours of getting up close to the crocs. Again the tour was enhanced with the guide providing an ongoing informative commentary. We saw plenty of crocs ranging from babies to large males. There was no rushing, the guide took his time, explained in detail about what we were seeing and give everyone time to have a good look. We were also impressed that the guide took the time to pick up any litter he saw around the place. A jacket or thick jumper is a must, it got chill on the river, a stiff chilly breeze blowing. The loo was a bit of an experience. All-in-all a really excellent day out enhanced by friendly, knowledgeable and informative guides. This was exceptional value for money. We would definitely do it again.
Well organized tour with experienced, knowledgeable and entertaining guides (that make a mean damper :-)). Covers all the bases - the river tour with crocs, the Oz culture and the wetlands environment. And there are even performing birds (well, sort of), and a crow called Russell. Well worth the entry fee.
We had a great trip on the Proserpine River and saw many small as well as several very large crocodiles. This was followed by a BBQ lunch and then a second excursion viewing the local flora and fauna. Arriving back in camp, we were treated to billy tea and damper. Both our guides were excellent and knew a great deal about their subject matter. Would highly recommend.
Weather was awful in Airlie Beach and all boat trips were cancelled. Heard about this trip through Mad Travel and I was not disappointed. Hostel/hotel pick up, excellent food and lots of it, 2x tours which were excellent and obviously saw crocodiles in the wild. Would recommend to anyone and not just for when the boats aren't running!
We had a fantastic day out, the guide was knowledgeable, enthusiastic and genuine. The river boat tour is the highlight, seeing the crocs in their natural habitat and getting a really good look at them too. The wagon tour across the wetlands was also interesting. There was a good variety of birdlife and natural flora to see and hear about. And the food far surpassed any other organised tour lunch I've ever had. Really good value.
Hubby and I attended this crocodile safari while we were in Airlie Beach in May... Our tour guide was informative, very entertaining.. The first part of tour was river cruise looking for crocodiles, we were lucky to see many adult crocs along with varies size baby crocs. I enjoyed hearing about the personality of each of the crocs, and their stories. The boat is able to get very close a little too close for comfort, but great for camera shots! This went for approx 2 hours.. When we finished we gathered back to camp, where we enjoyed damper of two choices, plain or with raisins. Washed it done with some delicious billy tea, that of course was drawn by the usual bush method! Next on the agenda was a interesting and relaxing tractor driven ride through the wetlands... Finished with an amazingly delicious bbq with many salad choices.. Great value for money! Well organised, Would happily do again. Sensible flat shoes, warm jacket. It rained on our tour but we were given rain ponchos from our guides. Good idea to take some money as they did have drinks and souvenirs to purchase... Fabulous
It rained heavily for most of the day but that did not take away from this excellent experience. The tour guides were very knowledgeable and entertaining. We saw plenty of crocs so got lots of great pics. The tea and damper and bbq lunch were very enjoyable. The mosquitos however were very friendly but there was plenty of bug spray provided as well as rain gear. Would definitely recommend to all!!
Myself and two others did the croc safari in early December 13. We had a great day out, the tour guide certainly knows his stuff, we saw lots of crocs and loads of babies and I mean loads! It's also nice that the boat pulls up at different angles close to the crocs so everyone can see :) , the morning tea and lunch were also very good. I would definitely recommend this for a day out for anyone :)
We were picked up and taken to Proserpine River where we met up with our 2 guides.Weather was a bit cool but we had lots of sightings of crocs BIG and small. We met Mr T (a friendly Bush Turkey) around the camp where we had camp tea and damper. We saw quite alot of bird life and KangaroosWe learnt about insects and the bush. Very infomative. Thanks to our guides, well worth doing this trip
