We were traveling from Seattle to Walla Walla, and our son is familiar with the wines and wanted to stop. The wines are really interesting, and the story of the winery and building was interesting as well.
Airfield is always a great winery to visit. The wines are all really great and at a fantastic price point. Make friends with those who pour you and try as much as you can. They have some really great stuff.
Airfield is the star of the Vintner’s Village in Prosser. The best way to describe the Vintner’s Village is "a winery tasting room theme park." Several wineries have individual buildings all linked by walking trails just off of I-82.Margie and Kara are the undisputed "divas" of the Airfield tasting room! Great wines at reasonable prices.
My wife always enjoy stopping at Airfield when we visit Prosser. Their wines are great and the atmosphere is always enjoyable. On many Saturday nights during the summer they host special events. We enjoyed live music along with a bottle of wine and a delicious wine and cheese platter.
we stopped by their Woodinville tasting room over the weekend. The Reisinling is only $15 a bottle and as good, if not better, then even C. St. Michelle's Eroica. The ladies working the bar are informative and charming. Only $5 for a tasting. If you are in Woodinville, I highly recommend stopping by.
We arrived about 30 minutes prior to closing. The service was still very friendly and they advised us as to what nearby wineries were still open. The wines here are very good and the atmosphere is unique. I would recommend this winery's wine. The prices are very good and there is a nice selection. This winery also has some varietals that are not often found such as Dolcetto. There is a tasting fee but it is waived if you make a purchase.
There are a lot of wineries in the Yakima Vally area now. This one stands out. Prosser, WA once had only a few wineries, but now there are so many to choose from especially if you are trying to figure out where you should spend your wine tasting dollar. I have been to wineries thar charge upwards of $20; this one doesn't. The location is right off the highway. There's plenty of parking; and the facility is very clean and inviting. There is even outside tables (with a pond) to sit and enjoy a nice bottle of wine (my grandchildren loved it). The wine is very good and there are several selections one can try. The stop is well worth it and you'll love the wines. I highly recommend this winery.
We stood at the wine tasting bar for 30 mins before we got any help. We were acknowledged and told 'we will be right with you'. Then waited and waited. Finally got our flights of wine to try. Not the best wine we tasted --- in fact the was the only winery that we did not purchase wine from.
We especially enjoyed our tasting experience at the Airfield Tasting room in Prosser. Their wines were excellent! I was particularly impressed that the wine host discouraged us from purchasing certain wines that we would have to ship home, telling us WHERE we could find them back "down" south. This was the 1st tasting room we went to in Prosser and probably the best wine, out of several others. So glad we can find their wines locally.
Airfield Estates is a "must stop" if you are heading to Prosser for any reason. Our server was Ryan, who clearly loved the wines and was there serving for all the right reasons. He was friendly, knew his wines and grapes and never tired of questions. PLUS, a big plus for my party, he was willing to update us on the Seahawk's game and score as we tasted. We were not rushed or pressured to buy in any way, but the wines are so wonderful that we managed to leave a big part of our wine budget at Airfield! The winery is tasteful and well appointed with an airfield theme that comes with a great story. We will go back.
