The only thing I did not like was that alot of the antiques were in locked cases. Other than that people were very helpful and it was a very nice store.
I travel here for southeastern Massachusetts every month or 2. It is a very nice shop. The displays are well set up and offer a good selection of antique/vintage merchandise. Not a lot of flea market/yard sale junk like I have seen at some places. My wife mainly is interested in vintage jewelry and the selection here is enormous. She really enjoys coming here and we will return in the near future.
There are some simple and some spectacular items here. From $3 old glass cream jars to pottery worth thousands. The first floor is the more expensive and the bulk of it is in glass cases. The second floor is a dense series of display cubbies containing dishes, lead glass windows, furniture, etc. Some of the collections feel like a museum visit or the emptying of your granny's attic. It does take a few hours to go through the whole building, the first floor is slower, peering into the densely packed glass cabinets.
Antique Marketplace is a fun place to find special deals. They have four floors of antiques and collectables with friendly and knowledgeable floor people to help you make your choices. The nice thing is they don't push you or try to "sell" you. They will answer your questions not try to steer you wrong.
was looking for something to do because the weather was rainy we were there for over 4 hours just taking our time to look around and find a few items would go back again if in the area
Regular visitor to Putnam Antiques and can always find some treasure. Big shop and presented well. Quality of mercy varies from junk to higher end.
Regardless of your interests, this place will have something you've been looking for. I try to explore this place at least a couple times a month...it's always changing! Staff is friendly and very helpful.
Over 200 dealers and many beautiful antiques. Something for everyone! Large array of quality jewelry and costume jewelry, toys and games, vintage clothing, furniture, pottery, glassware, clocks, paintings and a very large collection of coins.
We have made yearly visits here for at least a decade to browse and look for unexpected necessities. They have a several floors with good displays of antiques, coins, pictures, junk, etc. Putnam used to have several more antique places but it seems bistros and restaurants are taking over. Good town to stop both for the antiques and the food.
Every year, we are in the Putnam CT area for about 2 weeks, and whenever we have lunch downtown, we then cross the street to canvass this fascinating place. It is packed with all sorts of antiques and collectibles, and every year, we do shop, as we find tremendous bargains. In fact, we bring our bubblewrap from Tucson as we know that we will definitely be buying things here, and we want to get fragile items home undamaged. The more expensive stuff is in locked cabinets, but just ask, and they will unlock it. The staff is very nice and we love this place.
