Returning after a 25 year absence, we found Lake Chelan State Park as wonderful this time as last. The trees had grown, of course, and there had been some rearrangement of parking, trails, and so on. However, the State Park is a wonderful place to camp in a tent or an RV. The asphalt trails and tiered water front ensures heavy use without destruction of the underbrush and grass. The lake remains clear and clean with a clearly marked swimming areas. Although we stayed in an serviced RV site, the lakeside tenting spots looked very appealing. The washrooms were clean and well-maintained. My only request would be for more informational material - about the plants, trees, wildlife, the history of the area and so on. Highly recommend this spot.
We love coming here once a year with our friends to do our annual camp out. There are different loops to choose from. The RV loop has hook-ups and is very open, but everything is kept very neat and has a huge grassy are behind them. There is also a mixed loop where you can have tents and trailers (no hook-ups) which offers spacious sites on the other end of the park closer to the swimming beach and playground. They also have a third loop in the very back for tent campers only. The sites are all walk-in and sometimes very private and cozy. All of them have either a good or partial view of the lake and access to the docks below. The bathhouse in this loop seems to be the oldest one and has only basic facilities and really need an update. The walk-in sites are great tough, but you have to keep in mind that you have to drag your stuff down a steep hill and the tent pads are very small (mostly 8x8). Those sites are not easy for parents with small children, you really have to keep an eye on them walking down and also when sitting outside, those sites are next to the water and docks. We have been going many years now and never had a lot of bug issues, this season seems to be the first where we had huge amount of ants all over our tent and gear. Not sure what is different then the other seasons? The park itself has a nice swimming beach with a shop that sells food, coffee, toys and basic groceries, perfect if you forgot stuff or just are not in the mood to make lunch for everyone. Wineries are all close by in Chelan and there is lots to do in the summertime. There is also boat rentals in Chelan and you can reserve a dock space through the State Park site for the weekend you are there. We love to go there and will be back every summer season.
The lake is clean and clear, and super refreshing on those smoking hot summer days. On the beach you can set up your towels on the san or on one of the grassy tiers. There is the snack shack at the top of the beach which serves everything from coffees to burgers to ice cream, etc. Then there are walking trails, docks to jump off, paddle boards, a volleyball court, restrooms with token operated showers, and a full selection of camping sites. If you have had enough of "roughing it" you simply drive 10 minutes intot he lovely town of Chelan where you can have a Starbucks, pizza, Safeway, Wal-mart, etc.I can't say enough about this family friendly State Park. We have made it an annual tradition for the past 7 years and plan to keep coming back.
This park just keeps growing and improving. The clearest water you will ever see and a well maintained beach. You will not be disappointed.
Very popular park with easy access to the lake, lots of nice green lawn to spread out on & also sand for kids to play in, there is a parking charge, we paid $5 for all day
This RV park is right on Lake Chelan it is clean and well laid out with lots of different parking spots. Free showers and well kept washrooms.
We went with another family for a long weekend and had a great time at this park. It was a bit crowded with college students but there is a fence along the perimeter that keeps the campsites separate from the public park and beach. The location is perfect for families as it's on the water with go karts, mini golf, a park, and wineries all within a short walk or 5 minute drive. There were a lot of small gnat type bugs but no bug bites and as long as we kept the citronella candles burning we seemed to keep the bugs at bay. Look forward to returning.
Little rough, and easy drive, u need to check it out, it is along the lake and fun to explore with kids. Bring patient husbands ! Ha ha ha! Bring water and snacks for u and kids! U r 10 miles + from stores and gas station. Great fun place!
Probably one of the best places to enjoy a summer day in Washington. Huge park with plenty of beach access (swimming). I highly recommend buying some inflatable tubes/sheets from a nearby Walmart (15 min drive, has huge selections of inflatable floating devices) to enjoy fully. You can also rent stand up paddles etc from the state park itself. For more action, try the Jet ski rentals nearby.
We stopped at the state park on a recent trip to Lake Chelan. We rented a boat and decided to cruise around the lake and by luck stopped at the park. The dock facilities are in excellent shape. We walked to the restrooms and store area. The facility was clean and the beach area is nice. We had lunch on the boat and swam around in the dock area before heading out. Overall it was a very nice area.
