this is the best point of the Genova that you can watch the city.there are some cafes and reastaurants in there for rest. also there are some banks to just sit and watch.this is a good option when you need to breath and run away from crowdedness of city. you can buy a gelato, sit in the bank and just watch.espicially if you are with your bfriend/girlfriend,place is becoming more romantic.must see.
We took trip advisors advise on this one,and made the walk to this viewing point ,it was well worth the effort because it was an amazing view and we got some really great pictures. We were due to join our cruise ship later in the day and we could see it from this point. Some went up in the lift but if you want to walk off your breakfast it's with the effort.
Worth a visit. Great views. But hey it is Genoa it is beautiful from any point in town. Thanks to reviews we ensured we get up before the goes on "siesta". 0.90 euro per person fee for funicular. We walked down on a very quiet street.
It is one of the best places in town to watch at the sunset. Take the public lift to go up from piazza Portello, and once in Spianata castelleto don't miss a chocolate icecream at Guarino, they are not the nicest but the ice-cream is very good.
Beautiful views for free and a little effort if you take the stairs, otherwise you can take the public elevator for a very small fee. I liked the information viewing board which indicated where all the main buildings around town were. Very interesting.
great way to get from one level to another, to access all of the old historic area below. Great view of the city- they bring tour ships here but you can see it for nothing but a ticket. Have a gelato at one of the shops around at the top in castelletto. Nice neighborhood, although lots of dogwalking.
It is what it is, a high point above the city that gives a view above the city. You need a lift or a long climb to reach it.
Walking up to the Spianata Castelletto made having lunch there very worthwhile. We might have taken the lift up but gave up trying to work out exactly what ticket we needed to buy !
It offers a nice panorama of the city and the sea. There are couple of benches to seat and enjoy the view.
Coming into Genoa, and faced by tall pallazi, one sometimes forgets that this is a city built on the slopes of a considerable hill. The viewpoint from Castelletto gives one a wonderful panorama of the city, at a minimal - or even no if one has a 24-hr travel card - cost, since one requires a local transport ticket. The speedy elevator takes you up above the house roofs, and gives you views over the Old Town and the Harbour, and down into the Ligurian Sea. It is also a jumping off point to explore the 'upper city', including taking the train or funicular up to the historic bastions.
