For the price, this was a great deal but we came right after the monsoons and the grass was a little high into part of the fairways. Beautiful course with mature trees.
Course is not in good shape but you don't pay much either. Greens were not in good shape and putting was difficult.
Course is in poor condition at best, they are working on it but you should check it out before you go!
The course is layed out very nicely and you can tell that it's ahd some financial problems but they are on the way back and I'm glad as it is a very nice course with challenges but not overwhelming.
Very nice course design. Probably a real jewel in the desert when it opened 40 years ago. Needs a major cash infusion to remodel clubhouse & repair the course. Many of the greens were in terrible shape & very slow to put on. Fairway lies were "down & dirty" most of the time. On the plus side, very little traffic means you get to have the course to yourself on weekdays. Also a wonderful place to take in lots of unusual birds.
The course was pleasantly challenging and the staff were accommodating. Greens were being reseeded but were still playable. Great place to meet locals!
This course has a lot of potential. Whomever owns this needs to dump some money into this place to get this course looking at least average to good. The greens were in horrible shape. The golf cart path had major potholes and at many places just ended and you ended up on grass. The sand traps were more dirt than sand and had grass growing in them. Never saw the beverage cart. Thank God we brought our own booze! But where else could you play in the middle of winter in AZ for only $25? Oh and the bathrooms… disgusting! Looks like they haven't been cleaned in the past month. I'm guessing summer should be free! It's truly a shame that this course looks like this since it could be so beautiful. It does have gorgeous mature trees lining the course with breathtaking mountain views.
Just took my son there for three days of golfing (October 2013). Course needs some work (traps and some greens), but staff is working hard to rectify. Front 9 were great but back 9 needs more attention. Very nice staff and fellow golfers were friendly. Great place to go for the buck. Can't wait to go next year and see the improvements! Lot's of wildlife to be seen, even a stray cow or two on the course make for an interesting day! Props to the Henderson brothers for thier hard work in turning the course around from a near bankrupt property to a very playable course!
we stayed at the Esplendor hotel - which was terrible. My husband went golfing and didn't finished. He said the grass was so tall off the fairway that he lost 15 balls and didn't finish. The whole hotel/golf report was the worst we've seen.
This was our second year to visit this golf course and our round came as part of a hotel package deal. The fairways are poor and the greens even worse. Would not waste time going here when there are so many better courses in the area. These best part was the food in the clubhouse.
