Uruguay has around 340km of beatuful beaches. But 240km east from its capital Montevideo, there is small beautiful jewel called La Pedrera. With about some 100´s year round habitants and more than 10.000 in summer, (Dec to Feb) you could experience a total relaxed holiday if you hate crowds, or a highly partying place if your call is nightlife. The town is divided in two by a rock hill from where you can experience one of the most beatuiful ocean views of the country, great sunsets, or just relax drinking some Mate (national herbal tea).La Pedrera´s hippie night vibe has some great food and drink pubs where you can relax and enjoy some good music or have som awsome drinks with friends before going to the partyes in the neightbour town "La paloma", where the night starts at 3am and ends at 9 or 11am.Being one´s of Uruguay surfing best spots, La pedera enjoys of awsome beaches with very nice weather from Decmber to Mid/End april, and best waves in March and april.
Lovely dinner last night. Local fish, cheery staff, great play room for kids who were all entertained and well behaved. They even brought is a special desert as a surprise. All wonderful and English on the menu too!
I visited la perdrera after seeing the sagrada familia and parc guell. I wouldn't say la perdrera was a disappointment, but it wasn't that exciting either. The best part was the attic level where you learned more about how Gaudi accomplished his work, his inspirations in nature, and his other projects. If your time is tight, You might consider choosing some of Gaudi's other dwellings in Barcelona to visit rather than this one.If you go, definitely get your tickets online ahead of time rather than contending with the line.
I think that Uruguay is one of the best coutry to visite, because there are beautiful places and people, delicious food, exquisite handcraft and low prices. Besides, there are friendly and happy people everywhere! In La Pedrera you can go to the beach with your friends or family during the day, and to enjoy yourself during the night so much! But, the parties used to start after midnight...
A praia é linda! Restaurantes charmosos...
I stayed about a mile away from La Pedrera and walked along the beach to go explore the town. It's almost winter there so it's pretty quiet, but the beach was gorgeous and quiet. I roamed around the town for a while-unfortunately not too much was open in the off season. One restaurant was open and one little market-still it was a nice quiet day and there is a long shoreline to explore.
