Great ski area! Friendly staff and just beautiful! There is a bar and restaurant area which makes the end of the ski day even more fun!
This is the most family friendly ski resort I've ever been too. It's cozy but with good facilities. Ski rental and ski school are very good. Don't miss the upstairs grill in the lodge for some really great eats. Best part is that the kids won't get lost in a big crowd, the lines aren't long and everyone who works there is very nice.
Plattekill offers a nice product, something for everyone at a good price. They have some of the best steep trails, (Northface, Plunge, Freefall & Blockbuster) in the area. They have a nice long green trail off both peaks. Nice bar upstairs in the lodge. Best kept secret in the Catskills.
Plattekill Mountain would like to extend our sincerest apologies for a less than ideal experience at the mountain. We never want our customers to leave us with a negative opinion of their experience here. At any time, if you have a problem with a member of our staff, please feel free to come to our main office and ask to speak to a manager, so we can resolve the issue at that moment. With the information that you provided us, we have discussed the situation with our staff and have made sure that customer service is their #1 priority. Our Tubing Park prices are comparably priced to other area parks for the time allotted and number of lanes that we have. I hope you will come back to Plattekill and give us another chance at making your visit more enjoyable one.
I LOVE this mountain. It's small and intimate, the terrain is challenging and there's a great bar in the lodge. On the downside if the snow isn't great it can be icy mess and they're unable to open all the trails. This winter because of the great snowfall they were able to open many trails I'd never skied on before. Staff and ski instructors are super nice and friendly. And the food upstairs is great - limited menu, but very good. They offer lessons and have childcare available.
The skiing looked awesome, I went snow tubing and it was fun. The guys that worked there were all really cool. Fun times.
despite a packed lodge and parking there was no wait on the lifts!! not many snow boarders -definitely a skiiers mountain.
My partner and I bought tickets from Liftopia and due to a myriad of issues got to the mountain an hour before closing. The friendly homey atmosphere was great and the staff said we could come back and use the Liftopia voucher towards tickets on another day. They do home cooking there! I am a very sensitive celiac and I got the homemade chicken soup. They were very knowledgeable and also had individually wrapped gluten free deserts I could eat. Can't wait to actually ski there! Going back this year.Wonderful owners and staff, such a homey warm feeling there!
Love everything about Plattekill, from the slopes to the apres ski atmopshere in the lodge. The mountain can be challenging, but there are never lines.
This place is great! It is definitely a skiers mountain (a little harder to navigate on a snowboard) and probably better for intermediate or advanced skiers. Of course, I only did one green run all day, which was a nice break. The grooming was great, but not over done. You could actually ski the soft snow and have fun. I skied the bumps on the sides while my friend enjoyed the groomed middle of the steep runs. There were also runs with no grooming which were great. The people were friendly, parking easy, beers cold, and cafeteria food reasonably priced. The mountain is definitely better with fresh snow, which we had. Please don't tell anyone about this hidden gem of New York skiing.
