Completely renovated for the World Cup 2014, in Brazil, the Fonte Nova Stadium is gorgeous and is the pride of the people of Bahia. The headquarters of important games, being used also as a Centre for Conventions and Business events.
Beautiful, massive, well organised. But honestly the best in it is the view from the outside. Tororó Pond is spectacular.
I watched one of the games of the world cup and the stadium is very beautiful. Location is excellent.
it is worth to pay for a guided tour - just book by telephone. You will go for each palce in stadium, from chaing rooms to the playfield
Good options on Beer, good seating from almost anywhere. Food options are burgers and hotdogs and they're okay for a game but for the world cup I would have expected better.
this stadium is probably better than most of european ones. thanks to the worldcup, it has been completely renewed and is located in a small valley, with a little lake and park just near it. I don't know how it works usually, but its location in the middle of favelas doesn't make it a nice place to go by foot, apart during the WC and the thousands of cops that were deployed all along the road. Again, during the WC very poor bus services were available nearby the stadium, and the taxis were not allowed to come in the area and we should have walked for about 20 mins until we found taxis at a gas station. Brasilian organization!
Saw the USA vs. Belgium match at this stadium and it was awesome. Great vantage point no matter where you are sitting and the actual stadium is nicely lit at night.
My brother and I went to this game for the world cup as Americans and were treated terribly by the MP's, ushers, and in general the entire Brazilian community at the arena. We were sitting in a section with a mix of U.S. fans and Brazilians who had just gone to watch the game. They were getting angry at us for standing and wanted us to sit down, which we wouldn't. Our country was playing in the the World Cup, no way, in our eyes, were we going to sit down because they wanted to sit and relax and watch a game. We were emotionally invested in this and they wanted a casual night. They begin throwing popcorn and us and getting the ushers to tell us to sit down and we refuse. There was an entire Belgium supporter section on the shelf below us standing and rocking and cheering to their country. As the time went on the popcorn turned to spitting on us. The ushers got the MP's to talk to us in a broken attempt at English (note, I'm not lambasting their attempt at translation, rather the lack of efficiency it provided). I attempted to show them the giant glob of spit on the bill of my hat which they ignored and went on to tell us that is was the rule of the stadium that 'EVERYONE' had to sit down. Again, I told them that if they made everyone sit down, the entire Belgian supporter section sit down as well, then we would. We wanted to support our country and not be subject to this unfair treatment because a couple of Brazilians springed some cheap seats to a game and wanted to watch it casually. After being cornered against a wall by the MP's and having weapons pulled on us, another translator/usher came to speak with us. She told us that we were going to be escorted from the arena. This was absolutely ridiculous. We came to support our country and were being kicked out for doing so. Unreal. As we left the MP's we convinced her to let us join another group of Americans. The treatment we received was unreal. I don't mind being criticized 'why wouldn't you just sit down' but if they were watching Brazil play, or Bahia, or Botafogo, or Corinthians, you name it, they would not have been sitting and would have been insulted if asked to do so. So, yeah, in the end this was a terrible experience made by the entire Brazilian community we were in contact with at the Arena Fonte Nova and Salvador certainly didn't prove to be 'Brazil's capital of happiness.'
We attended five FIFA world cup games at Arena Fonte Nova and it is truly a world class sports stadium. All views of the pitch are superb. Wide open concourses with views of the pitch make ore match drinks and snacks very pleasant. An absolutely be or of class stadium.
Watched 3 games at the stadium. Located in the Pelourinho district. Walking distance from residential area.
