The Cathedral of Segovia is the last Gothic church built in Spain. It is a huge church with many chapels. The chapels light up when one enters them. The cloister is huge and very impressive too. The Council Room has very impressive tapestries. Outside of this room there is the monstrance carriage built in the 17th century. The church has plenty of very good artwork.
This grand edifice located off the Plaza Mayor is truly inspirational ... it´s opulent ceilings, it´s individual chapels to innumerable saints and the cloisters with their museums are beautiful. If you are a senior ... you get a discount! I´m not ... but if you are ...!
Beautiful exterior, even more beautiful inside. The fee was minimal (maybe 3 euros) to enter. All the chapels inside are so ornate. The ceiling soars. The light streams in. The courtyard outside was also beautiful.
The tower is their pride and joy. It is by guided tour only and in Spanish, so non-Spanish speakers would benefit from reading a bit about it in advance. The rest of the cathedral is interesting. Not as spectacular as some that we have visited, but they have many of the chapels open and nicely lit which is very nice for a change.
Such an interesting architectural feat! It is really the centerpiece of old Segovia and the town was built up around it. The exterior is unusual and I thought the lions surrounding it with their tongues out are very unique.
I went sometime between 5-6 in the afternoon. At this time you can't buy a ticket to go up the tower which is a shame since I'm sure it would have had lovely views. The church itself is really impressive. There are also two rooms your ticket gets you access to that have art and tapestries displayed in them. Definitely worth a visit.
教堂在大广场上很方便找到 外墙的石头全部是金色的 如果有太阳的话 非常漂亮200多年的历史 祭祀坛很值得一看另外回廊也是特色
The Cathedral of Segovia is absolutely beautiful. The art in paints, sculptures and ceilings are absolutely beautiful. The windows give colorful views that change throughout the day. The outside is gorgeous and imponent. The spaces are well kept, clean. Entrance thru The Plaza Major. Worth walking the narrow streets around it to detail the architecture. Price €3. Time for the visit 30-45 minutes.
A Cathedral that stands prominent in Segovia! In a city full of Roman ruins that are impressive this Cathedral is quite impressive. If you are willing to spend the small fee to get inside (at least they charged this back when I went in 2005) then it is really nice for about an hour long walk inside to admire the architecture if that is your thing!
If you haven't had the chance to visit Segovia Spain, this has to be a stop when traveling to or from Madrid. Midival town with breath taking monuments, enormous aqueduct system, so much to see here, recommend at least 1 full day, as there much to see, and getting good food here is not a problem.
