Siostra Polish Pottery and Gifts is a delightful little shop on Main Street. If you've not seen Polish Pottery, you need to check it out. Beautiful works of art that are useable in the oven, microwave or on the table. Main Street is loaded with shops.
Cute shops and nice restaurants. One end of main street is mainly dark bars that cater to the younger set, but the other end is geared more toward people looking for quaint shops and historic buildings. We had lunch at Lewis and Clark.
Quaint interesting section of St Charles with history galore. Brick streets dotted with shops will keep you busy but take the time to learn the history. It's well worth it. Also an amazing time to visit is from the weekend after Thanksgiving to New Years. All the Dickens characters will be roaming the streets.
This historic area is full of unique shops and restaurants. The brick streets and old buildings gives the area an old time feeling and we were told that around XMAS times this is a must visit attraction. We spent about two hours shopping and had dinner in one the restaurants on Main St. and we did not come close to seeing everything so allow at least a full afternoon if you are looking for unique gifts. Stores do close early in the evenings so plan ahead because on the day we were there it was very crowded.
I love going down to old St. Charles. They have great little shops and plenty of places to have a drink and/or a meal.
The historic district of St Charles is a refreshing place to experience a stroll along Main St or the river path. Good restaurants and friendly people abound. A must for anyone looking to remove themselves from the hussle of all the nearby highways.
Loved the historic area and shopping. Little O's has the best Gooey Butters ever! Great food too! There are tons of bars.
The downtown district is a great place to spend the day and is extremely family friendly. The shops offered a wide variety of products in various price ranges and you're guaranteed to find something for everyone on your list. There are several great eateries and most of them offer outdoor seating during the warm season. The gazebo is a great place to take pictures and when the weather is permitting there are usually carriage rides available. The park and waterfront are within easy walking distance to the shops on the main street. There are several special activities and festivals throughout the year and street vendors from time to time. The 12 Days of Christmas Festival is an absolute MUST! The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is due to the limit public parking especially during busy times like events or pretty weather.
Always an enjoyable place to go year round for a afternoon or evening stroll for shopping or browsing. Christmas time is beautiful with lights and st nick characters.
The shops are great if you like antiques and trinkets. Be careful walking on sidewalks as they are old and torn up. Also be aware that many shops require you to climb up and down steep stairs since they are in very old homes.
