This place is so much better than the deer park in the dells. The deer are friendly and approachable, we even got to feed a fawn! There are lots of other animals too. Enjoyed feeding sheep, rabbits, chickens, pigs, goats, llamas, donkeys and horses! The place is nicely laid out and we will be back! Felt bad for the bear though, he looked miserable!
The friends we visited with were relatively local, so their teenagers had come previously. This was their choice to come again, but it was fun for us all. The animals all appeared to be well looked after, although the wolves were pacing a lot. You can feed the animals if you buy the bags of food in the shop. In addition to the animals there are quirky sculptures made from farm machinery. There are handwash points around the park. Everyone had a smile, so they must have been enjoying themselves. there is a shop by the entrance/exit with a wide range of souvenirs.
Great place to take kids. Nice walk through grounds.Plenty of animals to see. Good gift shop. Bring camera!
I brought my niece here for the first time this summer and was blown away by the variety of animals and the atmosphere of this darling park. The park has everything from pony rides to exotic animals. The animals are very tame and sweet and not at all overwhelming for more "cautious" children. Actually, the goats are quite forward but are behind a fence so they aren't as scary for the kids. Bring a picnic lunch and enjoy it on a beautiful day at one of the many picnic tables they have scattered around. I would wear tennis shoes and not sandals though, as the paths through the park are dirt. The thing I really appreciated about this park too, was that the staff truly seemed to care for the well being of the animals. I had to report some young boys to a staff member because they were cornering geese and harassing them. The staff member was horrified by the idea and immediately gathered another staff member and headed out to talk to the trouble making boys:)
We used to go here as a kid and for the first time I brought my kids. It was even better than I remember! Loved the picnic tables and tons of shade!
If you want to time travel to your 1970's childhood, stop at Fawn Doe Rosa. Wander through the trails of woodland animals on display and marvel at how close the wild deer come to you as feed them by hand. June will be a bonanza of baby animals-a great time to visit. Fun photo opps abound!
It was fun for our girls to feed the deer from their hand and to have them come right up to us as we walked. A bit old and in need of some updating- would be nice to have tours or someone explain some history and answer questions, etc.
This is a fun family day trip. Admission can add up depending on the size of your family- but if you consider that you can spend the day here it's not that bad of a value. They stamp your hand so you can eat lunch at the picnic tables outside the facility or go out to lunch. The best value was the bags of food for the animals which is a must per person and a better value then putting coins in the pellet food dispensers. Each child needs their own bag which is a mix of different foods like carrots and pellet foods. We went in the spring and got to feed and pet the fawns. There were tons of other baby animals- goats, sheep, duck, and chickens as well. The kids loved it and it took a while to walk around the grounds- so save some food for the animals at the end too! I would advise not feeding the geese as they can be a bit annoying and will follow you. The deer are very friendly and will walk right up to you- but they also leave you alone if you keep you food bag closed- which is nice. Go early in the day to avoid field trips from daycare centers.
It was fun to visit with our 2 small grand kids. Though I do wish there were more places along the way to sit and rest. Also a shoe bath or scrubbie mat upon exiting would be nice. Will be back again, hopefully with another gr/coupon. There were 2-3 picnic tables on side of parking lot, but they were in use. Also there is a flea market next door!
Great for all ages,,easy to find and park,,tons of animals,,that you can feed!!! Clean park, great for large groups. You can picnic too!
