This was a fascinating tour and well worth the nominal fee. A beautiful piece of history. Lots of local history. We could have easily spent 3-4 hours there.
You get an opportunity to see and engage in some of our nation's history with a trip to Patee House. It's also located next to some other great sites, such as, Jesse James' house.
I was born in St. Joe so the Patee House Museum is a special place to me.Filled with interesting artifacts including St. Joseph memorabilia, art, Pony Express, steam locomotive, merry go round and more.A very nice place to visit when in the Kansas City/St. Joseph Missouri area.Go Chiefs!!
Where can you walk a street, visit a saloon beside a train and never leave the building? Great interaction to do.
So much to see in this historical gem. The building is fascinating. The displays are full of information. Be sure to take enough time to see it all...do NOT rush through, you'll miss something wonderful. And be sure to pay the extra to see the Jesse James house, too. It was really interesting. The gentleman selling tickets was a treasure trove of information, too. I sadly agree that St. Joseph is becoming a sad town with too many empty buildings downtown, but this museum should not be missed.
Honestly I wasn't holding much hope for this little Museum. Boy was I wrong! There are so many different rooms that each have a different theme I would call them. All the history that I read about and the illustrations about all the individuals of that time, I spent a good hour in just one room reading about everyone. The train was the neatest thing ever, and right behind it an actual saloon. If your in the neighborhood go check it out. Now if your looking for something like an amusement park this isn't it, but if your looking for some neat history this is up your alley. I believe kids would enjoy, but there is a lot of reading for them so for younger it might get boring, but there are so many things to see.
This is a neat place to see the history of St. Joseph. It is interesting for all ages. I have gone with family, as well as taken class field trips.
This is St. Joe. The proprietor has spent a lifetime collecting and recreating 20th century culture. You could spend all day just hear, especially if like to read as well as see...
Loved the history. In another part of the city. Get good direction or use GPS worth going. About 4-6 miles from Dury Inn
No guided tour during our Saturday visit.Informative rich collection of an old western town. But the town of Saint Joseph has died and the Patee house's lively spirit has faded away with it.Won't visit it again, although it fed my enough this time.
