We were in the area and were curious about this park. We were a bit dissapointed as we walked all through the park in 30 minutes. We did not attend any animations as timing was inconvenient (long wait). we thought that the park would be good for smal children, but just watching the wolves through some glass windows was not quite what we expected.
We did a day trip with friends and our two 6 year old boys. The park is natural forest. We just missed the first feeding of the Canadian wolves however the keeped was still there and spend a good 30 minutes talking about the wolves, the park and answered questions. We walked along the nature trail and watched the feeding of the grey wolves.Afetr a great lunch at L'O a la Bouche, we returned to watch the last 15h30 feeding. The boys played with the animals at the little farm and in the wooden play area.We found this to be a great day out in nature and appreciated the kindness of the staff at Alpha Park.
We were a little disappointed in the park, the wolves seemed almost tame especially when the keepers went into the enclosures to feed them. But it is a brilliant idea and the area is outstandingly beautiful with plenty of paths to walk inside and outside the park.
An incredible experience, good for all ages! The park is so well organized that the interest is kept high all throughout the visit. We spent 4 hours on-site without even noticing. Especially recommended: the tutorial movies explaining the wolves but also their interaction with their environment. The staff is particularly friendly, available and helpful. Highly recommended for nature lovers and families, as you can be as close as 3 feet away from the pack ... through the windows!
We really enjoyed our visit to the park. It is very well planned and organized. It is set up so you can view the wolves from various station. A lot of information is provided about the wolves and the park.We drove from Nice but stopped at Eze on the way which was a mistake. If you are going to make a day trip you need the whole day to enjoy the trip and get there with enough time to see the park properly. Once you get to St Martin it is a little tricky to find the park but there is a very helpful tourist info center there that can help. St. Martin seems like a nice place to visit as well.
The Alpha wolf park is on the boundary of the Mercantour National Park - just an hour and a quarter from Nice. It was located here as it was the first place that wild wolves had been seen here in France for a long time, in the early 1980s. The anilmals live in spacious enclosures with accessible hides so you are almost sure of being able to "shoot" a wolf....in addition there are 3 multi media shows of about 20 minutes each which draw you in to the myth of the wolf and present man's view of the creature from several different angles - they create much passion. There are often events going on in the park - it makes a good day out - entrance is just €10 - in summer take a picnic - in winter enjoy the ice castle....splendid walks nearby - plus a snack bar and the O a la Bouche restaurant - good home cooking and an open fire to boot!
