My son decided to visit the White Tower. He is almost 6 yrs. I was surprised when we got inside! The museum is really interesting. The tower itself was built in the late 15th century and is 33.9 m high. There are sic storeys (gift shop on the 6th floor). The view from the top is amazing. A maximum limit of up to 70 visitors at a time. Extreme caution due to the low height of the staircase and the passages connecting the rooms. People with moving disabilities can be virtually guided through the exhibition via informational stations on the ground floor. Closed on Mondays. Opening hours 0830-1500. 3 euros per adult, free >18
interesting historicalthe last three years (i think ) make a great job in this place, white tower is the symbol of thessaloniki now someone can visit this tower and learn the history of the town thessaloniki ...in every floor you can see some events of the city's history, the great fire which destroyed almost the entire city and The beginning of the great Fair of Thessaloniki and many other interesting things from the history of Thessaloniki.Do not forget to visit the white tower worth your time
Placed next to the sea to facilitate guarding of the nearby port this medieval castle stands tall over the busiest part of southern Thessaloniki.Very well preserved it is well worth a visit and can easily be combined with a long walk along the seafront with a stop for coffee, sweets or food at one of the numerous cafes and restaurants lining the seafront road.Cannot be missed.
Great 360 degree from the top. Free English audio on the history of the city along with photos. Definitely recommend a visit.
The white tower is a landmark and important historical site, but not the most interesting thing to see in the city...
It didn't have any English speaking sections nor writing so I was relying on my partner to tell me everything which isn't the best thing... Apart from this, the view at the top was amazing.
I've been there during an exchange programme. It was an amazing trip to Greece, in 2010. I felt in love with the food, places and culture.
Apart from the fact that you must visit the most famous landmark of Thessaloniki you must go to the top not only to learn a bit about the interesting history of the tower but also to enjoy the great view and take lots of pictures. Choose a clear day though!
this museum is in a historically significant tower with great views of the sea and the city. Very little information is available in English. Read up before you go.
after climbing each museum floor, you will see amazing view of Thessaloniki. Museum is perfect and tells everything about history of city.
