The owner of the winery is one of those people who you can tell is SO passionate about what he does that you could sit and pick his brain for hours. The wine is delicious, the winery walls use recycled bard wood that is just beautiful. Our favorite winery in Salado.
Enjoyed trying 4-wines (for $5) and purchasing a bottle on the way out. We didn't try the wine/cheese pairing but I'm sure it would be good (cheese from The Cheesery, next door) September is the chocolate/wine fest - we're going!
We love Texas wine, so we were excited to find this place. I know it's a matter of taste for wine, but this place just didn't do anything for us.
One's expectations are an important part of the wine experience: in blind tastings Texas wines are rated as good as any in the world, but negative expectations can produce a mediocre experience. Our wines are very different - on purpose - we make Texas wines in a style that we think is distinctively Texan. Not Californian, not French. Come and try them for yourself. We'd love to entertain you.
The server was very friendly and accommodating. The wines were good. Signage could have been more obvious because the building is small.
Stoped here on a wine tour. Lovely place, friendly owner.great cheese shop.
We were travelling to Austin for the weekend and stopped at this winery on the way. We tried 3 wines for $5 (the other reviews say that they got to try 4 wines for $5 which I would have appreciated a lot more). My husband liked the dry wines and I liked the sweet wines. We also had a cheese tray that was pretty good.
The wines were not my favorite, but my biggest complaint would be the young gal behind the counter. She was neither friendly nor inviting. She couldn't get us out of there quick enough. When I asked what we were going to be tasting, she abruptly pointed to the written menu. I always believed that a friendly person behind the tasting room counter can make or break a tasting experience..this one was not pleasant.
The owners are more than accommodating and friendly! The winery is a place where you can chill with a glass of wine while you enjoy live music (well, there was live music the day we visited). It's a great place to go for a first date or hang out with a group of friends.
Not one of our favorites. The wines just weren't to our personal liking. The visit wasn't worth the effort to get there (and find a parking place)
