This was a beautiful spot for garden lovers or even those who need a break from the city, the sun or shopping. It's small enough to do in an hour, or you can, of course, take more time than that if you'd like to study and/or enjoy the orchid house. Lots of photography opportunities. Also nice benches to sit on to just relax. Interesting plants, foliage and koi pond. Very pretty place. Well worth it, for sure.
Liked everything. See previous review. At xmas time all the trees ARE COVERED WITH LIGHTS AND ARE like disney displays. Sdee previous review.
If you enjoy gardens, this is a must visit. Beautiful orchids hanging from trees and fantastic tropical plants everywhere! The seaside setting only adds to the enjoyment. I loved this place and can't wait to return.
Always a lovely place to stroll the grounds and enjoy the beauty of nature. What a treat to be located right on the bay too! Easy parking too. Their gift shop offers not only lovely gift items but a HUGE selection of beautiful plants!
Fleeing the frigid temperatures of Boston the Botanical Gardens were a treat. Wandering the paths laid out and taking in the wide variety of amazing plants and trees under the sun was a lovely way to spend an hour or so. Wonderful exhibition of orchids of all shapes and sizes grow from every possible surface. Koy pond and Buddha statues add to the serenity of this place. A great way to reconnect with nature and take in the diversity of plant life that we take for granted or that are often beyond our reach.
We love to visit gardens and really didn't know about this when we arrived in Sarasota. The setting is absolutely lovely. Even though we didn't have any children with us we thoroughly enjoyed the children's garden. Give yourself about 2 hours to just ramble. It has a great history and is a jewel in Sarasota's crown. If you enjoy gardens, a visit will be very pleasing.
I have been to the gardens many times, and each time there are several wondrous surprises. It is not possible to ever "see" all of it. Escape and take it all in, whether it's in early November, around the holidays, February ... (I have not seen the gardens in the summer). This is what I call the BEST kind of therapy to relieve any kind of stress.
My garden maven and I spent a wonderful 1 1/2 hours visiting the lovely gardens and grounds of this botanical haven. There were many, many, beautiful orchids in bloom of all sizes and colors to enjoy. The gardens are well laid out and there is well posted signage describing the many plant species. The abundant sea bird presence only added to our enjoyment. There are also many helpful guides and staff available to answer questions.
It think the admission fee is 18 or 20 dollars and is well worth it. The orchid greenhouse is lovely and there are multiple specimens in bloom. The outside gardens are extensive and beautiful. There is a small restaurant with both inside and outside seating. The coffee was a local brand and delicious. There is also a rain forest area with plenty of fun for the children.
This one of a kind tropical garden is a must see/do when in Sarasota. Specializes in orchids and epiphytes and other unique tropical plants. Peaceful, relaxing grounds with benches and trails everywhere. Read a book under a banyan tree or waterfall. Lose yourself in dreams as you gaze across Sarasota Bay. Leave all worries and cares at the entry. Especially beautiful when lit at Christmas. New childrens area is pure delight and imagination. Enjoy.
