Although it is costly, the Salt Restaurant at the Chicken Farm is absolutely worth every penny. I go here at least once a month for a dining experience. It is a classy place, with classy food. The head chef dresses like a teenage pot-smoker, which is strange, but he is an artist in the kitchen, so I overlook it.
I attended the First Saturday as a vendor and made friends for life! A wide variety of offerings by fellow artists make it a great place to shop for holiday gifts in the Fall and year round.
The Chicken Farm has a significant history for arts in San Angelo and that's continued on to this day. Between the unique items offered by the vendors, the jam sessions and the eclectic mix of options, this is where to shop for something unique. We've been a number of times as well as just a couple of weeks ago and it was as good as it always is. It's one of the few shopping places that I really like to go since there's plenty of seating if you don't want to shop. However, I think the mix of vendors makes it a pretty cool place. We take as many visitors to San Angelo as we can and they always take home something unique.
I look forward to going to The Art Center every time I go to San Angelo. The selection of crafts and on site created art is wonderful. I take an extra bag so I can bring home the goodies that I find on the airplane. First Saturdays for each month brings a fun day with lots of crafters and entertainment.
very eclectic! always something new to look at and so much talent in one area. Haven't been here for a few years but it defiantly a place I need to visit more often.
This place is neat, and ecletic..And inexpensive. The Chicken Farm Art center has several indoor, outdoor artist. Some are residents. The chicken farm is old and really cool...the various artist have awesome displays including rock and stone art, beads, jewlery, pottery, glass ware, paintings..and much more. There is only a certain weekend where everyone is open and there is live music and food. They fire up the outdoor wood burning/oven and serve really good wood fired pizza . Guest can sit on the patii and listen to live music. There are several small rooms to choose from. The smaller rooms have a private shower, bath, and the kitchen is inbetween the rooms and has a microwave. There are various snacks, and games available to guest. The silo house inn also has a great restaurant for dinner service. Reservation only. price for dinner for two ranges between $75-150. I believe guest are allowed to bring their own wine..dinner menu posted daily on facebook. The Inn is located (in an actual silo) the one room available for overnight guest usually gets reserved in advance. prices range from $80-$165.
I have been here many times and am always amazed at the talent we have in our community. This is the perfect place to buy a unique gift or something for your home.
We stopped in early on Wednesday. Although not many studios were open, we enjoyed walking around and looking at the art on display. I'd like to go back on and Saturday and enjoy the live music in the courtyard!
A really unique collection of shops. From mesquite creations, to original paintings, ceramic and pottery and even blacksmithing. If you have the chance, try and schedule for the first weekend of the month when guest artists are present, live music is playing and the place jumps.
Interesting place to visit. Local art colony. My daughter and I went while the boys played in the pool at the hotel.
