Free parking, tons of things to do for all ages, great fair food, fantastic craft vendors, kid rides and interesting people watching. Demolition derby is a blast to watch as is the tractor pulls.
Only the State Fair in Springfield is bigger. Be prepared to be overwhelmed. Shows have been going downhill of late; they used to have top talent at their grandstand, no more. Demolition derby and tractor pulls, Real down home fun.
The Sandwich Fair is a wonderful family fair running 5 days every September beginning the Wednesday after Labor Day and running through Sunday. Two midways, many vendors, excellent entertainment and wonderful food - something for every palate. Fay's Barbeque is a must!
We live in Sandwich but have been going to the fair for over 40 years even when we didn't live in town. There is something for everyone, rides, crafts, vendors, food, animals and more. People have said it's always the same. I think that's the beauty of it, you know what to expect. We don't attend the fair every year for just that reason. One thing that does change are the prices of food. They are so high, I don't know how young families can afford it. The entrance fee is reasonable, especially for seniors. Demolition derby is a lot of fun but bring ear protection for that and the tractor pull. This is a very popular fair for good reason.
This is or was a great fair. Have been going many years but everything is exactly the same and every vendor and exhibit the same and same place. If you skip 10 years nothing will be different? I wish something new would happen. I always enjoy the fair but its getting Robotic.
Always an awesome event. Starts the Wednesday after Labor Day and runs through that Sunday. Plenty to see, entertainment, rides for the kids and an abundance of food choices. Perfect for all ages. There are "special" days for discounted rides, as well as entry fees. Often rated as the best Fair in Illinois after the State Fair in Springfield.
My husband and I look forward to going every year! We actually go every night so that we can try something different to eat and wander around to all the displays, shops, and animal barns. The music acts and truck/tractor pulls are also a must see.
My wife is from Sandwich and goes every day with the kids. The entire family enters in the fair and has a good time. Bring lots of cash for food.....everything overpriced except for FFA Water for $1.
There is something for everyone at the Sandwich fair. We go for visiting, eating and seeing lots of interesting things. The exhibits are the best! Plan to do a lot of walking. Take your time and enjoy!
We go to the fair every year! Food, animals, derbies, tractor pulls, concerts, carnival rides, train ride. Parking is free but you have to pay to get in. Around $8 for adults and about $5 for kids. Plus everything you do inside costs money. Bring lots of cash, everything is way over priced. For 3 of us to go (2 adults, 1 kids) it costs us at least $150 per day.
