Definitely a must..!!!..!!! Great snorkeling location for entire family; went there on a a motor coach tour, but my way back the next on my own on an ATV EXPERIENCE.
Stunningly beautiful but overcrowded. Great place to snorkel but not to get away from the crowds. Because of it's name and notoriety the beach here is packed. Kind of ruins the feeling of getting away to a tropical island. On the southern end of the island, near the old Valero oil refinery, this area was once a thriving community, with many nightclubs and restaurants. But there are many other beautiful beaches here that are not as crowded. Worth seeing for sure though
When you go to Aruba you hear a lot of talk about Baby Beach as it is a tourist attraction. We went there as part of our Jeep tour so we did not have a lot of time there. It was a gorgeous beach with beautiful water. There a restaurant on site to eat and a drink.
I don't want you to go to Baby Beach. I want it for myself ! Seven Aruba trips ago, on an ABC jeep tour, we ended up with snorkeling at BB. The beach itself is beautiful, soft white sand , a gentle slope into shallow , warm, clear water. Just perfect for kids or anyone not comfortable with the expansive view of open water. It's like a lagoon , and the opening to open water goes over a field of broken stag horn, and elk horn corals. They form canyons and valleys in water from a few feet deep to twenty feet. As a child I loved the Jaques Couseau specials on TV. When I floated out over the coral with my mask in the water, I was in that TV special ! The schools of fish, the neon colors, eels, crabs, all down in the three dimensional views between the corals, would have left me breathless if it weren't for the snorkel. This place got me hooked on snorkeling like an addictive drug. It's a forty dollar cab ride one way from Palm Beach, so buddy up with friends. Looking out from the shore you have a nice view to the left, to the right you see the oil refinery in San Nicolas. If you don't like BB, go back and sit at the casino bar and say you went to Aruba. More Baby Beach for me!
We found the best snorkeling in Aruba at Baby Beach. There were literally thousands of fish of all shapes, sizes and colors. It's also a great place to just relax in a beach chair and people watch. We did not have any trouble finding a shady spot. I did not see any public restrooms at the beach. Highly recommend!!
All the fish were great! We were out near the openings to the sea, but behind the roped off areas. It was beautiful. This is where all the oil company built the beach for employees in the 1930's. It is shallow, big and a great place to come and suntan, teach a young one how to swim, etc. Further out you have what we did.Avoid Big Mama's: FOOD: NEVER, drinks, o.k. Lounge chairs for $8.00. for the day until 5 p.m. is a rip off. She has to be connected: politically or MAFIA (ALL my local Aruban friends.). She is now at other beaches, too. At this price you can buy a chair and donate it or take it home if it folds.
The water here is not too deep and the waves are small. Very safe for smaller children. We were able to snorkel and it was good but some areas have better snorkeling than this. Since we were there on a windy day it was nice for swimming. the beach is clean and this area is not as well known so it doesn't get very crowded.
