  I visited Sao Miguel das Missoes at the start of my 4 month trip to Brazil, arriving there from Santana de Livramento on the Brazil / Uruguayan border via a couple of lengthy bus rides. The ruins and the site are quite remarkable and well worth seeing. The sound and light show is also interesting if you have good Portuguese as it's not available in other languages. Keep your distance from the many school trips that come to see the show as you won't hear anything if you're near them. The town itself is nothing special. There are a few simple restaurants and a few bars, though not much going on overall. Thankfully there is very good (though extremely overpriced) hostel right next to the ruins and this is a good place to meet other travellers, who will be mostly Brazilian. Again, you'll be limited if your Portuguese isn't very good as the staff don't speak any English and nor will most of the guests. I highly recommend camping on the hostel grounds if you have a tent (less than half the price a dorm bed). Overall, the site is well worth visiting if you're heading this way. It's a long way from everything else of interest so weigh it up if you're thinking about making a special trip out this way.

  Lugar fantástico, conhecer uma obra como as ruínas é se render aos encantos da pura história do início de nosso povo gaúcho. O show à noite é um espetáculo à parte, acho até que poderia ser mais pomposo, mas já vale por contar cada detalhe, nos faz voltar ao tempo, imaginar aquele local na sua essência, as pessoas ali vivendo, as crianças correndo, a guerra... ahhh, que se preserve por muitos e muitos mais anos!

  Achei muito bacana este passeio pelo valor histórico, achei a preservação boa, porém sinto que seria bom colocarem mais lugares para o povo sentar e também com um pouco mais de conforto na hora de assistir ao show noturno, que é só de som e luzes, tive a oportunidade de visitar as ruínas de Possadas na Argentina e lá vi um show holográfico, poderiam fazê-lo aqui também, tornando o espetáculo mais real.

  As ruínas estão bem conservadas e estão dentre os passeios imperdíveis na região. O local transpira história!

  As ruínas de São Miguel... vale a pena visitar.... lugar encantador.... leve máquina fotográfica.. as fotos ficam perfeitas..... ocorre todos os dias à noite o espetáculo "Som e Luz"..... que com luzes e vozes.... conta-se parte da história.. muito legal...se for no inverno, vá bem agasalhado, pois o espetáculo é ao ar livre e é muitooo frio... muitoo vento...lá tem venda de artesanatos.. tem os índios que vendem também suas peças.....

  Visitar e conhecer estas ruínas e sua história é especial. Lugar bonito, bem cuidado, preservado e repleto de história. Apresentação de um espetáculo de luz e som à noite.
