Very interesting watching the ships and the locks. Free to go see the locks up close with good views!!
We came here after visiting the Shipwreck museum, funny because about 7-8 others we saw there were here as well. Watched the Calumet come thru the lock which was cool because we saw this ship off the coast of Paradise while at the Shipwreck museum. There is a visitor center with info, maps, etc.
Charming town. Informative and fun boat trip. Price $25.00 for 2+ hour boat trip thru the locks. Crew very friendly, helpful and knowledgable.
We enjoyed it very much although we didn't get to see any freighters go through. Nice souvenir stores around town to pass the time
very interesting and a nice multi-story review platform. You just share it with gnats, but who cares.
This is very cool historical place with great views and tasty places to eat. A good place for teaching about the shipping industry and seeing it in action.
It was amazing to watch a 1,000 feet ship move through the locks. Looking down on the locks from the observation deck was an awesome experience for everyone. And best of all, it is free.
The viewing platform is nice and affords a good view of the locks. Unfortunately, if there isn't a ship passing through it's all a bit anti-climatic. My curious 6-year-old was hoping the museum would have video footage to show how the locks work. No such luck. Definitely worth a stop if you're in Sault Ste. Marie. Not worth going out of your way for, however.
It was intriguing to see a huge ship be lifted up several feet by water alone. We took the boat tour so we could go through the locks oursevles. Very fun. Take a jacket.
The visitor center is modern and very informative. Was disappointed they didn't have the movie explaining the locks running while we visited but it was great to see the ship transverse the locks. Great platform to watch from.
