The construction of the church was completed in 1527 and it is an imposing building which dominates the Old Town Square. There are some outstanding works of art inside.
I had lived in schwäbisch Hall for 6 months to join deutschkurs in Goethe Institute. And every time schwäbisch Hall offer us such a nice attractions where Held in St Michael (St. Mikael Kirche). Living in schwäbisch Hall was the best Life experience in my Life. Its a small City but very multiculture. You can find easily many ppl from many different countries Not only frm european countries. The church you can reach by walk, its easy to find this One of schwäbisch Hall Symbol. it is in thr middle of the City. In front of the church you can See Rathaus or gov building and besides the church there is a Hotel and cafe. The City has lots of old building and also in thr 17 century the City was famous by their salt and become One of riches City by then.the ppl is very friendly snd helpful yes they didnt speak very good english but they are very helpful ppl. Do i recomend this attraction? Yes. Very.
Magnificent old church. Unlike many churches of its era that became Protestant during the Reformation, the art work survived due to the influence of Johannes Brenz. Definitely worth a visit.
This beautiful gothic church dates back to the early 15th century and has witnessed a lot of history; this is a 'must see' if you are visiting Hall. 53 broad steps lead up from the market square to the church and, if you are energetic, a further 160 steps take you to the top of the tower with fantastic views over the city and River Kocher.During the summer the steps, as a stage, host the Freilichtspiele which are a series of plays and shows.
First off I grew up here, this is my home......kindergarten through gymnasium.....this is the picture, the vision, the example of an " old town"....i was baptized in this church and have been inside a million times......i have lived in california for 30 yrs where 100yrs old is considered historic....the stone carvings alone make this worth it,,, the stained glass,,,,the paintings,,,, the architecture.......the amazing organ and of course the incredible view from the top(when my friends and I were little we used to throw stink bombs off the top at the tourists below, was that bad?)It never occurred to me to review the greatest little town in germany.......I know at least 20 ex army guys that were stationed here and stayed....visit and you wont be sorry
Stop and visit this church! Give donation to help maintain the church inside and out. Walk in level at the back of the church, climb the church tower and have a wonderful view over Schwaebisch Hall. Walk out the front door and go down many steps to the market place. City hall, a restaurant, cafes, shopping and tourist info are at the base of the church steps.
Enjoy this church with the stairs in front of it. There are events on the stairs (theater and music). The stunning atmosphere in the church with a lot of Christian saints and sculptures is really one of a kind. Enjoy also the organ concerts. Don't miss the 'silent chamber' on the south side of the Cathedral with the old cabinet doors.
Awesome, breath taking, brilliant architecture.Fascinating historyPipe organ playing while we were there was the high light
The Church of St Michael is an impressive building that sits in the centre of the old town. There are stunning views from the tower. Photo's galore! Outdoor theatre on the church steps and Town Square in the Summer Months. To sit outside one of the adjacent cafe's soaking up the Olde Worlde atmosphere and watching the locals go about their business is a truly special experience.
