my husband and I stopped here on our way south and my husband really enjoyed the museum. He had a volunteer who went through the car collection with him and gave him lots of history about the car. The cars are laid out well starting with older to newer as well as unique ones for example racing cars and electric cars. you can see pictures on my blog rauhala ramblers sharonr1947.blogspot.com
If you like cars then this the place for you! I truly enjoyed my time here. You can see the development of the automobile from its humble beginning of the Ford Quadricyle to a new exhibit of electric cars. There are too many cars to mention. A few that are worth mentioning include a 49 Volkswagen, a 54 Corvette, a 302 Boss Mustang and the most unique RV called a Star Streak which is still operational. The museum is easy to get to, but the parking lot was nearly filled when I got there after 12 pm. If you're in Old Sacramento it's close by. If you're a AAA member it's $7.00 otherwise it's $10.00. Still a good price for a few hours (or more) of automotive bliss!I would go back again!
Went here as my husband loves his cars. He found 3 rare beauties not seen in Australian car museums- Ford GT, 2 Model K Fords. Worth a visit, we spent 2 hrs
This place is HUGE and a must see if you enjoy car show. They have everything from Model T's to modern day. We visited during a special display of exotic cars - Ferrari, Lamborghini and more! Having worked for Bank of America for 30+ years, I was delighted to see the founder, AP Gianini's car right after entering the building. Great display of early vehicles, including motorcycles. Brought back some wonderful memories of my childhood and the cars my parents and grandparents drove. Highly recommend this one. Also suggest dressing warmly during winter months as it was quite cold inside the building, gloves too.
We found it quite hard to find, but it was well worth the effort. We took loads of photographs of some beautiful cars. The staff are very knowledgeable and friendly - one of them even gave us a lift back to old Sac! I'm not particularly interested in cars, but even I was impressed.
This great collection is extremely diverse and gives you s sense of what was available to the average Joe all the way to the extravagant. A great picture of car design and ownership since the Model A!
The CAM not only houses some excellent examples of automotive history, but the docents who lead the narrated tours are outstanding in their knowledge and interpretation of the stories behind the autos advancement in our society. A guided tour is not to be missed!
I'm sure this might be a great place but unfortunateky when I got there it was 4 PM (closes at 6PM) and there was a golden retriever rescue fund raiser going on at 6PM. What this meant was the vendors were already setting up so most of the exhibits were blocked, the ones you could see didn't all have the correct signs in front of them describing the vehicle or it had the wrong one. Very disapointed they actually charged admission to an exhibit you couldn't see; at least could've had a reduced rate.
This is a very good automobile museum with many significant vehicles and special rotating exhibits. I wasn't expecting much when I arrived but was pleasantly surprised by what as there and the knowledge of the docents. We weren't planning on having a guided tour but I'm so glad we changed our minds and enlisted the help of docent Bob Daloia. He was excellent - not only did he know a lot about the vehicles and the history of the automobiles there, he was also interesting and very pleasant. Just an overall wonderful man who made our visit so much more enjoyable. This is not a polished and buffed, perfect museum but it has very presentable and significant cars in an very good condition displayed in an authentic and unpretentious warehouse style environment. The price of admission is very very reasonable considering all they have and the training and knowledge of their docents. If Bob Daloia is there when you visit, be sure to ask for him!
We really enjoyed touring this Museum. They had a lot of cars to look at and the people working there were very friendly. They even have a group of cars on display for sale. My husband found one that he fell in love with. All the automobiles on display were absolutely amazing with information written out about each of them. We would definitely recommend seeing this Museum if your in the area.
