I discovered this place in the summer of 2013 after passing it on Rt 206 hundreds of times. After stopping in one day as a matter of curiosity, I discovered that the Napa Valley (or France, for that matter) have nothing on the New Jersey Pinelands as far as delicious wines are concerned. Inside the Wine Room is an incredible assortment of fine wines - I am partial to their "Sweet Cab" and their "Jersey Devil Honey Wine", the latter being made exclusively from HONEY, and is absolutely unique, although I am told that wine made from honey goes back to antiquity. The "Jersey Devil Forte" is also a unique experience.I am by no means a wine expert; I just know what I like. I have, in my 62 years on this Earth, tasted just about everything Alcoholic that is worth mentioning. I have sat at fancy weddings where $300-a-bottle French SWILL was served, and everybody was "ooohing" and "ahhhing" over a 20-year-old concoction that I would only use to clean carbuerator parts.Velanzano's wines - particularly those I mentioned above - are pleasing to the pallate, and I just know that I like them..... and isn't that the point? If you're having a wedding, Bar-Mitzvah, or other special event, consider Valenzano Winery as your caterer. Once you taste their wine, you will be spoiled for anything else.
Came back to Jersey for a vacation and have never been to Valenzano Winery..Great choices of wine, sweet , dry and fruity... I totally loved it and the choices are many.. Many thanks to friend Cheryl O"Neil for suggesting we go....
We went to the winery on a Monday so they weren't doing tours during the week. But, we did get to do a tasting. 8 wine choices for $5.00. If you buy a bottle they waive the $5.00.A bottle cost between $9-$20. They had about 30 wines to choose from.We bought a cheese tray for $13.00. Quite a few varieties of cheese, crackers and grapes. Our wine server answered all of our questions about the different wines we had to choose from.I would go back again on a weekend.
We've been to several other wine tour and tastings and this was by far the best because of Danny. His tour talk was a wonderful combination of information about the business of wine-making and about the personal story of what wine-making means to the Valenzano family. His descriptions of each wine during the tasting were incredible, spot-on and greatly added to our knowledge of the complex flavors involved. The wines were all very good. I prefer white wines myself, but the red wines we sampled were quite tasty as well. Danny also had useful suggestions for using the wines in cooking. Although the winery is a bit of a drive for most people, the area is pretty--especially in the fall--and it's nice to see open land in NJ! We will definitely go back--maybe take our grown children next time!
Visited a wine tasting with friends and left with a case. Quite a variety. Some dry. Some fruity. Some honey-based. Friendly and knowledgeable young lady led the tasting. Beautiful facility.
This trip was on a whim. It was such a awesome surprise. This is a beautiful winery with a banquet room also. We tried a tasting that was 5.00 for 8 tastings but if you buy a bottle they dismiss the 5.00. We bought 4 bottles. They had mostly sweet wines which was right up my alley! Our favorite was blackberry Syrah. The staff was very friendly and helpful. You may bring your own food and buy a bottle and sit out on their picnic tables. We will be back many many times!
We visited Valenzano as part of the NJ Wines Chocolate and wine tour weekend. It is a beautiful facility, with a very good variety of wines. We did a private barrel tasting which consisted of dry reds and then the usual tasting - they did not disappoint. Staff was very knowledgeable and made good recommendations based upon our tastes. All of the wine available was very reasonably priced as well.
First time at the new place on 206. The tasting room is very nice, and the staff is very knowledgable about their wines. I always buy the Shamong Red, but today I tried 4 new ones and purchased them. The new Harmony line is great. Checked out the ballroom. It's beautiful with a big stone corner fireplace and an outdoor patio open to the vinyard. Looks like a lovely place to have a wedding.
We love coming here and sampling all their wine. We have been here for winefests and weddings as well as random samplimgs and we are never disappointed. The staff is always friendly amd the wine is plentiful. The place is also gorgeous.
The wine tasting was very pleasant and the atmosphere was very friendly and inviting. Their wine is for me average but some of my relatives absolutely adore it. One even took Shamong Red to Italy to show it off there to friends (!). So it is the matter of personal taste. Valenzano Winery supports US military and they have various documents on display. Their staff is knowledgeable about wine and pleasant. We will go back when we have a chance.
