We saw Leo Kotke in concert last night. His performance was terrific. The place was packed, the audience was attentive and appreciative. It was great to see an uninterrupted 2 hour concert without so-so warm-up acts. A great venue in a great location.
We attended a free Christmas concert and really enjoyed it. The space is reminiscent of the old theaters that I love; very well preserved and beautiful interior.
The Lensic reminds me of the famous Grauman's Chinese Theatre in Hollywood with the beautiful carved staircases, plush red velvet seats and iconic opulence of movie and playhouses of the 1920s and 30s. No Chinese, but elegance galore. See anything you can at the Lensic, you'll love it!
Beautiful old restored theater - not a bad seat in the house. Catch a performance if you can. Good acoustics and comfortable seats.
We saw a world-class contemporary dance company while we were in town for a long weekend. We bought tickets at the last minute which was a nice option. Nice to have a walkable option for great performing arts while in town for visual arts.
We walked over to the Lensic from our hotel and had a very entertaining evening. The acrobats were amazing, and the theater was beautifully restored and comfortable. Nice to have such a great venue so close to where we were staying. The "Ambassador" volunteers were very helpful. The Lensic crowd is interesting for people watching too...a nice eclectic mix of ages and styles.
Staying in a downtown hotel in Santa Fe near the square and walking through the shopping areas on a cold winter day, we noticed the sign at the Lensic listed a New Years Eve concert.Perfect fit for our afternoon and then coffee at Starbucks just down the street. Great looking "old" theater and the folks made us feel right at home. Great listing of shows. We may do this again.
Gorgeous theater in the heart of Santa Fe. Didn't attend a performance, but got to see the inside of this amazing theater. Definitely worth a look!
Be sure to see what's at the Lensic Theater when you are in town. So easy to access with varied and interesting performances. I just happened to be in town when 2 researchers from the Saving Endangered Languages project, with funding from Nat'l Geographic, spoke and showed videos of endangered language hot spots around the world. Highly recommend.
The Lensic Performing Arts Center previewed the PBS production of "The Roosevelt's" in early September. I was lucky enough to get a ticket by standing in the lobby and looking forlorn and lost. It was my first, but certainly not my last visit. The Lensic is a beautiful old theater in Santa Fe with a full schedule of theater, music, dance, and lectures. Seats are comfortable and it's hard to imagine a bad seat . I sat in the Mezzanine and would have happily paid to sit there for a regular performance. If you're visiting Santa Fe and enjoy quality productions in a old but beautiful theater setting, I suggest an evening at the Lensic.
