Yes you will have to queue - for drinks, the toilets, the concession stand - but it's a great music venue so you kind of have to get over it. Comfortable seats, friendly ushers and a beautiful old school venue that makes you feel like you're at an intimate show rather than some kind of mass commercial experience where you may as well just watch the big screen than feel like you're seeing someone perform live.
Fabulous as a night out with a classic performance. We saw Cyndi Lauper - an amazing performance. Just make sure you get close up seat as the back up high is too hard to see.
Going to a concert here is worth it just for the building. It is so beautiful and has this great mezzanine area you can hang out in before the show. Beautiful carpets, staircases, ceilings. Wonderful old world place. Can't get here enough. And the location is second to none.
What a beautiful old building. Went there for the first time to see Bob Dylan. The sound acoustics were ok, the building fascinating. Worth going there for a night out just to feel lush and like you've stepped back into another era.
Attended the Rick Astley concert at the Palais Theatre. Rick is a thoroughly entertaining performer and still has an amazing voice. He engaged with the audience with warmth and humour and had everyone up and dancing. It was a fantastic and fun concert and brought back many memories from the eighties. The Theatre itself is full of charm and grandeur - the only issue would be the limited bathroom facilities but it was a small price to pay for an amazing concert experience. Would definitely be back to see Rick in concert again but would also be happy to see other artists and performers here. 10/10 for a fantastic night out!
This iconic St Kilda theatre has been the venue for rock concerts, solo gigs, theatre productions, opera productions, ballet productions and film festivals. Situated right next to the equally famous Luna Park, the Palais has been a part of my life since the 1950s. Today it is threatened with concrete cancer and possible demolition. THIS MUST NOT HAPPEN!! PLEASE SUPPORT THE SAVE-THE-PALAIS CAMPAIGN!
The rules!!!No dancing! No standing!...luckily our band got us all to stand straight away..what are they gonna do??Good views of stage from everywhere in Stalls.
My husband and I went to see Jimmy Barnes on Saturday 18th. How old and disgusting is this venue. The toilets were disgusting and smelt really bad. The sink didn't drain in the ladies. The seats are really bad and squashy. People had to move out of their seats to let you past otherwise squeeze past. The sound was shocking and so disappointing as I love Jimmy Barnes but he even failed to make it a good night. I will never visit this venue again. Sorry guys. Pull it down and build something amazing for everyone to visit and enjoy.
Didn't really know what to expect. However arrived to this lovely old typical theatre looking building near the water. We arrived early and were able to sit on the grass area near the theatre and watch sunset which was wonderful.Getting into the buidling was easy lots of staff no huge line, guided to my seat and enjoyed an amazing show even from fairly near the back still had a good view would be confident that any seat in the theatre would still enjoy a good view.
Great concert, great night !!!! Tina was fantastic, have wanted to see her in concert for years. Stayed at the Novotel just up the road.
