We are a Belgian/Swiss couple so eating chocolate is less of a pastime and more of a genetic necessity for us. We have been disappointed and sometimes downright horrified by what passes for gourmet chocolate on this continent. Sadly, this place didn't sway us much- but for one item: the 'conitos' of chocolate dipped raspberries. Please follow these instructions carefully, assuming you can distract the server from her game of candy crush on her iPhone for long enough to actually serve you: buy the cone full of raspberries, making sure they fill it from the refrigerated container under the counter. Take the cone and sit on the bench directly outside the shop. Eat the raspberries asap whilst they are still slightly frozen in the middle, otherwise they go a bit too gooey and you miss out on the slightly sorbet-like experience. Warning: do not repeat more than once per day or you *will* feel quite ill.
The gushing chocolate fountain in the front window and the heavenly small of chocolate wafting out into the street is enough to pull any unsuspecting person into Rapa Nui. One of my favorite chocolate shops, Rapa Nui is best known for their chocolate covered fruits and chocolate en rama, as well as their delicious selection of helado (ice cream). They also have a great gift shop of specialty foods from Bariloche, including jams and mulled wine, my ideal souvenirs. For more advice about Bariloche and living in Argentina, check out my blog: www.rebeccasinternationalkitchen.com/
I tried a few times this chocolates and ice creams and are one of the best in Bariloche. They are really well done and with a very good taste.I was a bit disappointed to learn that they do not process it directly from the beans abut buy the cover chocolate to big companies.
EXCELENTE.
Forget the chocolates (which are also good)--this is the best ice cream in Argentina. Anything you get here will be good but the dulce de leche flavors were particularly fantastic. We went here first in Bariloche and then hunted down their other location back in Buenos Aires because we couldn't stop thinking about their ice cream.
