Hidden on an alley parallel to 3rd Street - you'll find this Comedy theater --- it is literally a wooden garage that must have survived the urban shopping development on 3rd street. Small venue, not overly "Hollywood-ized" - but still find up and coming comics making their way to a screen near you! Funny night, totally unexpected find -- nice to do something different on date night - than a dinner/movie!
Went on a Sunday night after dinner at RFD. Neal Brennan and friends try out some new comedy bits, work on their material, have a real collaborative vibe to them. Informal, but high-quality comedians. Cheap too!
MI's Westside Comedy Theater is a small, intimate, cool venue accessed from an alley behind the 3rd Street Promenade and for $5 a ticket (with no drinks minimum) the comedy would have to have been pretty bad for this not to feel like a bargain. As it happens the comedy was hit and miss but this was by design as we went to the Neal Brennan and Friends show that is for top-grade comedians (we Brits didn't know any of them, though) to try out new material on an audience. (We were briefed beforehand that heckling was a no-no.)This meant there were notes and pauses and 'that didn't go down well' comments that you wouldn't usually get at a comedy show. It's for individuals to decide whether this would work for them but we didn't mind it one bit and actually embraced the process.A really, really enjoyable night out.
Good price good acts. I always try to make a trip to this club when I am in town. Great vibe! A must for any traveller
We went on a Tuesday night and saw some improv groups do their thing and really enjoyed our time! You cannot beat this, especially considering there is no entrance fee!
If laughter is the best medicine, then this club fits the bill !! Tucked away on a back street, this is a real gem! This is really great improv, not to be missed!!!!!
We were not sure it was going to be open as advertised 15 minutes before the show but checked back 10 minutes later and there was a line and tickets being sold. There is a bar with decent beer. There were two different shows but if you paid to get in the first show, the you were good for the second. There must have been 7 or 8 different comedians. There were some novices and some that were trying out some new routines but very enjoyable throughout. Highly recommend it.
The Mission Improvable show was hilarious! Loved how quick the comedians are and how they "bounce" off of each other. It was clear that they loved doing it as much as we loved watching them.
