Pioneer park is a spot that every visitor should take a few minutes (or hours) to enjoy. It is right at the top of town, you and your family can walk and climb around on the huge rocks that are naturally formed, there are bridges, caves, and slots. You can see the entire town from the top. There are also grills, picnic areas, and bathrooms!
I'm a long-time local and we've been going here for many years. It's an awesome place for the kids to run around, climb and explore, there are several bolts for rock-climbing with gear if you are so inclined, picnic areas, a slot canyon to explore and it's literally 5 minutes from downtown. We go here with out of town friends, we've had family photos taken here and had several picnic lunches here. It can be quite crowded on holidays, and I would avoid it during the heat of high-summer, but if you don't have all day to drive to Zion national park this is a great alternative. If you have young kids keep in mind that there are plenty of dangers here, cacti and falling from the cliffs are the most obvious. I've never seen rattlesnakes here, but they are around in this part of the state so keep an eye out.
This place is fun for all the family. There's places to stop and explore and loads to see. Fun sand dunes and crazy caves make this a place to visit and have an adventure. In the summer it can get baking hot so bring plenty of water. The pioneer names that were carved into the walls are faded but overall you can smell the history running through the place!
If you are looking for a birds eye view of St George, this is a great destination. If you have kids or if you are photographer, this is a great destination. The rock formations provide great climbing opportunities for young and old as well as a photo op to capture the raw beauty of St George. Two thumbs up for a family or couples adventure.
I there for a visit to see my friend plus side he a wild land fire. This a beautiful place I ideal enjoyed outdoor or romantic getaway. Nighttime was more beautiful I see night sky and animals.
We stopped here on a recent visit to St George and more specifically Vegas. There are some amazing views of St. George, and there are tons of nooks and crannies to explore and climb. Do not miss this on your trip to St. George, and don't forget your tennis shoes and camera.
I liked everything about being up on the rock including the walk from our hotel. It was great exercise.
This place is easy to get to. Just go north on Main Street in St George as far as possible, then go right. It's right in front of you. There are beautiful views of St George. Very high up.Lots of places to discover and walk, catch lizards, etc Free and easy to get to. Kids playground
I cannot believe that I have never been here before when visiting St. George. A park with nice place to walk and beautiful views. Close to the city, I went straight up Main St and turned right at the top and the parking area was just around the corner.
My kids are getting older (age ranging from 6 to 14) and love to explore, run & climb. This natural park offers the adventurous a lot of exploring opportunities hiking in, under, and through the rocky terrain. The slot canyon was very narrow (the tightest one I've ever been in). It is over 100 ft long and at it's narrowest was probably only 6-8" wide. I have size twelve feet and had to shuffle them sideways in a few places. There are also a few small arches, some rocks have footholds carved out to use as stairs, one small bridge, one pavilion, restroom, and several different parking areas.
