expect to spend money in mystic no matter what place is small but clean and fun for small kids parking is ok had a goodtime
We had a wonderful time visiting Mystic Aquarium, we especially loved their 4 D show, it is worth the extra $$.
Took my nieces aged 2 & 4 but they were done within an hour, not all areas opened, Sea Lion show boring, not worth the money
Drove up from LI with Husband and 1 year daughter, to have a winter getaway in CT. the Aquarium was great it had so many different sea creatures to see. MY 1 year enjoyed herself as fish swam by. My personal favorite was the Beluga whales AWESOME AMAZING. They put such a huge smile on my face.I will say the weekend we choose to go was 3/27-3/1 and went to aquarium on Saturday 2/28/18, it was PACKED, could not believe that we picked a random weekend and how many families, groups and couples were enjoy the MA.. So you see it is that great of a place, a must see with Kids, friends, or even by yourself. It was 30 bucks per adults!!
Visiting from Eastern MA, trying to find a quick escape from the snow(6ft and counting) only to find out after spending way too much on a hotel next to the Aquarium that they are closed the one full day we are in town. Now stuck in Mystic with nothing to do, 2 upset kids and $400 poorer. Is it snowy, sure, but not nearly enough to be closed (4-5 inches tops). Disappointing, the whole point of coming here was there would be less snow and we would be able to go to the Aquarium. We did visit 7 years ago and while a small aquarium it had animals and experiences that other local aquariums didn't, which was nice. 3 stars for the last actual visit in 2007.
One of the best and biggest Aquariums around. Took 4 hours just to see it all. Well worth the trip. We actually rode the motorcycle from Mass. & went and stayed at friends in RI after.
I have been a member of Mystic Aquarium in the past when my kids were younger. It makes sense if you plan to visit at least 2x a year to become a member and enjoy the perks. This aquarium is clean, well run and they have so much to see and learn about life under the sea. This is a wonderful destination for all ages. Do not miss the sea lion show, arrive early as it does fill up quickly in high season/weekends. The Belugas are friendly and love the attention. Mystic is a location for weddings as well, my nephew married there in Oct 2013 and it was so unique.
This is a great place for younger kids to watch and see sea animals. Lots of things to see and watch you won't be disappointed. Was a blistering cold day so we tried to stay inside as much as possible. My personal favorite was watching the sea lion show. Highly recommend...
The beluga whales were great to watch they come up to the glass and interact that was my favorite part. The sea lion show was also good. We also did the 4D theatre which I would pass on next time $6. per person I didn't think it was anything special 15 minute show it was really bothering my eyes which I couldn't understand because I have a 3D t.v. at home. Penguins were also really cool to watch it was cold outside so a lot of exhibits weren't open. Parking was tough it was packed but free which is a plus unlike Boston. Will definitely return in the summer. It could get expensive if you want to do the encounter programs especially with the beluga whales.
My family and I go here every other February since 2008 and the most recent time was 2014 and it was amazing. We usually also go to the north Carolina aquariums for the other February and they are bigger but here the people are great, the jellyfish and beluga whales are my personal favorite but the horseshoe crab petting is awesome, along with the tropical fish.
