A beautiful building well worth a visit.A lovely- but very hard to find cafe is within the courtyard. It is really hidden away without any signage. Try to find it because it is well worth it.
I thought my visit to Stettin after such a long time, would be very emotional. But I was surprised how nice it was. First of all the Radisson SAS Hotel was real nice, especially the food, it was top notch. Breakfast was there for every nationality. Our tour guide Anna, a very experienced lady, made us very welcome and was impressive with her knowledge of the city and the history. I remembered things from my childhood school field trip, but of course from Anna I learnt so much more. The inner city still had many sites that had not changed and others that had been restore very nicely. Unfortunately the house where my family once lived did not look so nice anymore. But otherwise we enjoyed our trip and also the visit to the Cafe 22, which gives you a wonderful panorama view of the city and environ. The only bad thing was that we were confused as to what track our train for Hamburg would depart from. The poster was not marked very well and we could not find anyone at the station that spoke Englsh or German, but eventually after carrying our suitcases up and down the stairs from track one to three, we finally got on the right train.
Szczecin doesn't have great tourist sites like Warsaw, Gdansk or Cracow but the Pomeranian Dukes Castle is certainly worth a visit. There are old artifacts on display and they have concerts in the courtyard. The best attraction is the bell tower. You can walk the steps up to the top for a good view of the town.
Very picturesque place, at least from out side. There is a tower you can climb on and a museum, some restaurants, gift shop, but don't buy there, save your $$$ and go to different locations.
Beatutiful building. Pay the 1.2zl to go up the observation tower the views are amazing! Charming courtyard to have a coffee/beer to settle nerves afterwards.
it was really nice visit, even though it was unpleasant to walk around due to the back pain I woke up with after staying at that horrible hotel.
At the time of visiting the site was being refurbished so not everything was open. I was able to see the small museum (all in Polish) which had some artefacts from the site, and climb the "scenic" tower for some stunning views over the city
Pomeranian Dukes' Castle is a magical place. Apart from the entire history associated with the place, I always felt special and I had the impression that time has stopped. Almost every day in the summer time there are performances for children, women presentations and shows by local bands. Standing in the courtyard of the castle I like to look up because the architecture reminds me of intricately decorated cake. In the castle you can visit the chamber, tombs, and of course the tower with stunning views. Highly recommended.
When we went, there was a loud band playing in the courtyard (playing American music, ackk...) so we didn't stay long, but we enjoyed the viewing tower and would recommend it. It was about 1euro / person and the kids enjoyed both the climb to the top and the view. We didn't go to anywhere else in the castle so I don't know what else they have.
