Lots of trains. Several sections showing works in progress, Big Boy train on site, lots of tracks, train excursions available. Round table on site. Great documentation and pictures explaining the trains and history. Nice gift shop. Great parking on site. Next to Trolly museum, so very convenient.
We did the Santa trolley ride... it was absolutely phenomenal. We thoroughly enjoyed the history of the train yard and the trains that ran through it. The Conductor was extremely friendly and knowledgeable! the ride was great- the seats even change to accommodate the way you're traveling from forward to reverse.
So much history here... you do not have to be a train buff to enjoy. It is well organized and set up!
interesting place, lots about trains. can take a train length vary . one we had a short ride another day a very long ride. not by steam.
Loved the history and the museum and seeing all the trains on display. We also had a train ride and the guide was excellent
If you love trains, especially steam engines, you will love this place. Lots of old steam engines (restored and in the process of being restored) and some rolling stock (train cars and cabooses). Really good exhibits showing the history of the railroad and steam power. They also have a trolley museum. There are a number of trolley and train excursions that you can go on. Perfect for the RR enthusiast.
Takes you back to the era of steam locomotive travel. Not very crowded, and very knowledgeable staff
Had several hours to kill recently passing through Scranton. Not a big train enthusiast but this place was very interesting. I'm sure this is a great place in any season but the dead of Winter. There are many trains to see and explore. You need at least 2 hours to go through this collection. Can see how kids would love this place. Adults too.
A nice way to spend the afternoon with your family and enjoy the history, sights and learn more about this part of the area.
The trolly ride is fun for all ages. The train museum is also great for everyone. I would wait until the kids are a bit older to take the guided tour through the museum as it is a long tour and the little ones may not have the patience for it.
