We enjoyed the wines here at this vineyard, especially the Field Blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot. We got here at the end of our day and we were very fortunate to get inside in time to have their wines. It was a marvelous place with several wines that would suit anyone's palette or taste buds.
After a pinotage burger at the restaurant (highly recommend, see review of red leaf) we had to taste the wines of course and were met by a very nice young man who was very well informed about the wines and also very good in making a wine tasting also a funny thing. As we were the only guests (it seems after 3pm the place is getting quiet) we did have ample of time and did go for the big tasting including their flagship wine. To our surprise we discovered a very nice white and found out that the standard pinotage that they serve in the restaurant is nothing compared to their reserve. The fagships wine were also pretty nice but imo not worth the pricedifference compared to the reserve pinotage (i´d rather take 4 of them insteand of one of the Diesel), but of course tastes are subjective. So we ended up with several bottles we took with us and had a pretty good time.
The normal Pinotage is a good, easy drinking and not to dry, almost fruity. Priced low and very affordable. If you prefer a full bodied wine, go for the Pinotage Reserve; a deep, heavy and rich type of wine; our choice as well, loved it a lot. Priced very generous.I am not a Merlot person, but the others seemed to enjoy it, also easy and light. The wine tasting area is dark and noisy, a bit cramped but might come across as mystical. Only complaint we had was the fact that the person who served us could not speak proper and understandable English, nor pronounce the words correctly, at some stages the only word one could make out was "dry". So we ended up tasting based on our own feel and guessing.
I have had the famous Beyerskloof Pinotage many times before, but decided to go try the famous Pinotage burger with a group of friends. It's definitely a must-try, and I would recommend the dry rose, perfect for a hot lunch
The farm is very scenic. The tasting area is a little depressing and dark and there is not much place to sit. The deli outside is right on the vineyard and the famous Beyerskloof burger is something you have to try.
I have never been a fan of Pinotage but after tasting their Reserve, I am possibly the biggest fan! Great venue with the friendliest staff. Lovely lady in tasting room - very knowledgeable and passionate (helpful too). Can't wait to visit the restaurant.
Went there for the first time and tasted their famous pinotage line. Unfortunately they did not have the diesel pinotage at that moment but will be back for it! Wines are great though.
Beyerskloof is the most friendly wine farm i visited to date. All the staff is really great and make you feel welcome and loved from the minute you walk into the place.Great wines with good conversation is the key here. Sit back and chill. We had lunch at the restourant. Myself had the pork belly and prawns and wifey had the salmon. the best we had in a long time. The diesel pinotage is a must. 10/10
After trying many vineries all over Stellenbosch we arrived here and had high expectations due to their claim of the best Pinotage. We were not disappointed. The wine tasting room was crowded and thus a bit on the noisy side. But the wines made more than up for it. They even had all their flagship wines available for tasting which cannot be said for all vineries. We absolutely recommend the vinery and have bought a lot of wine there.
