Thank you for the great review and visiting Delheim. Hope to see you again soon.
Wine is good like always. Cheese fondue is very rich and decadent. Restaurant and cellar was full so service was a bit slow. Nice for spending time with friends in relaxing atmosphere. Br sure to like rich cheese if you book the fondue.
We did both the wine tasting and the lunch there and we were not disappointed at all. The service fast fast, frienldy and efficient, the food arrived in good time and was very tasteful and we dicovered the Pinotage Rose a wine that will surely be bought back in Germany again.A nice time, even if it was a bit too big for my taste.
We have been having lunch at various wine estates over the years and for consistency , good value and excellent food you just cannot beat the Delheim Restaurant. As it was an extremely hot day I settled for the smoked chicken salad and my wife the snoek (fish) cakes. Both were delicious and ample .Paired with a cold bottle of Delheim Pinotage Rose made it an unforgettable lunch. Their lambshank and Curry dishes can also be recommended especially in winter. The service was outstanding and as always very friendly and the prices reasonable. Highly recommended.
Delheim has some really knowledgeable staff who make the wine-tasting experience a really good one. The wines themselves are very good, and the Cabernet Sauvignon Reserve 2009 deserves a very special mention.Unfortunately we were too late to eat at the restaurant, but the cheese platter more than made up for it.We will definitely be back to eat at the restaurant and buy wine!
Hello Koen. Sorry to hear about your bad experience. Please can you let me know whom the wine adviser was so we can make sure this does not happen again
Hello BrianThank you for the great review. So glad you enjoyed the wine tasting experience...also on the menu for your next visit might be our Cupcake and Wine Pairing.I will pass on your kind words to Kevin and Junior
Even though their tagline reads 'Worth the Journey' Delheim is not too isolated, although once you're ensconced in it's intimate valley it may seem so. No imposing edifices at this estate. More of a rural feel. An assortment of face brick buildings greets you on arrival. These contain the wine cellars, gift shop and restaurant. The tasting room is old style design and a selection of most wines are available to taste and some only for purchase, due to limited quantities. They're well known for some of their sweeter varieties such as Edelspatz Late Harvest and Spatendreck but their wooded Chardonnay, Pinotage and Shiraz are also delicious. The restaurant has an outdoor patio from which you can see Table Mountain on a clear day. Manicured lawns in the shade of mountain forests make for an eye pleasing repast. A good menu selection that caters from light to full meals and at a reasonable price. As a main course we chose Bratwurst with Sauerkraut and a Lamb Shank, both cooked to perfection, accompanied of course by Delhiem Pinotage Rosé, which was sweet and light. Staff are informal and very friendly. Definitely worth the journey!
Felt the fondue was overpriced. Had to share a small bowl of vegetables and a mountain of bread. The whole afternoon cried let's make as much profit as we can.
