Just go for it! This place have probably the best wines in this area. Many people visit the farm next door, they have the view and food. But this place have the wine!
Just a great place, with great wines and a really good tasting room. Really enjoyed our visit and would reccomend a visit
The best wines we tasted in South Africa were from here. (It was also randomly recommended to me by my doctor who is also a huge fan). We were talked through the wines by the friendly lady behind the counter who was fantastic and told us all about the winery. We tasted a lot. We bought two bottles but wish we had bought more. It's a nice winery in a scenic part of Stellenbosch. A lot of restaurants are BYO so it's worth buying a few bottles here for that too if you can.
We visited this winery on our recent tour of the surrounding wine farms as our gran had always spoken highly of their wines. The wine tasting area is fairly small, so intimate and therefore the staff can give you all the attention you deserve. The wines are fairly extensive in range and include their Sutherland vineyards collection. You must try the Rabalais ... their flagship red ! We purchased a number of wines and the case shipment offered, is effortless.
this was such an amazing place!!! unfortunately, we were there on a very cloudy day. the view while you are tasting your wine must be amazing! a fabulous mountain ridge right there!the wines are to die for, especially Thelema Mint Cabernet!will definitely return!!!
As a long time visitor to SA and a fan of SA white wines, I have visited quite a lot of wineries. Over the years, I have seen wine tastings become more and more commercial and touristy. I guess for most tourists, it is certainly a item on the programme that cannot be missed and most wineries do take advantage of that. Though not Thelema. The winery doesn't offer elaborate tours or restaurants. I guess they focus on their main goal: wine making. And that is what they do very good. I am a big fan of their Sauvignon Blanc after I have drunk it at the Victoria Falls Hotel in Zimbabwe.Reception at the winery is most friendly and quiet. As it was a wednesday before noon, there were hardly any other customers. The view from the tasting room is gorgeous and so is the personal approach of the lady pourer. Also, it is one of the few wineries that is interested in growing organic wines.
Driving up to the Thelema Vinyards and Wine tasting venue, the natural beauty of the mountains, trees and vinyards just grabs you. Being the middle of winter in July we were welcomed with an inviting fire and friendly service. The wines available were very good and the view amazing from the tasting venue.Couldnt walk away without purchasing... :-)
Set in a somewhat 'no mans land' location, we were delighted we made it to Thelma, after a hefty afternoon of tastings and picnicking! Stunning location, great wines, happy and knowledgable staff.
What made our visit to Thelema Mountain Vineyards better than the other vineyards in the region was the service! The staff was patient, knowledgeable, and flexible in addressing people with all types of palates for wine.Oh, and of course the wine good too.
Thelema was first port of call on a 6 vineyard tasting tour. Arrived just before 10.00am and the views from the deck of the modern tasting room are amazing.Wines are first class and the highlights were the Sutherland range of wines which are grapes sourced from the Elgin area. These are cooler climate wines and have such clean tastes and purity of fruit. Loved all their wines .
