Being from the Cookeville/Burgess Falls area I often take its beauty for granted. If you are near the area you must stop to check out the falls...such a beautiful area and a great place to go for a swim in the summer!
i love walking and waterfalls so We got the best of both worlds! I simply wish there were more hiking trails!
This place is absolutely beautiful and relaxing. My husband and I don't do a lot of walking but we didn't even notice how much walking we did! We were like two kids in a candy store looking at the beauty of nature. Get away from the hustle and bustle of city life and relax in the beauty of these waterfalls. You will never be more relaxed!
The walk is just difficult enough to feel like you've done something special! We were there on a sunny cold day and it was a great little hike. Would be best to go in warmer weather and when the trees are green. But seeing the mini falls, then the middle falls and finally the "real" falls is well worth the trip!
Went here many times with my family as a child and went here on my first date with my husband. It's beautiful. Great place for hiking and enjoying nature feeling the cold water and being so simply amazed with the blessings and beauty God gave us. If you have been, go.
Gorgeous view and nice walk. We visited after a storm so the water was raging but it was still beautiful!
Burgess Falls State Park has wonderful waterfalls with great views of them. There is about 0.6 of a mile between each waterfall. They are real big waterfalls. I would recommend you and your family going to Burgess Falls state park.
You can either walk along a semi-rough trail that goes along the river, seeing Lower and Middle Falls or you can take a quicker, gravel/paved path through the forest to see the main Burgess Falls. The Falls themselves are beautiful and very tall. You can't tell from the pictures but they are huge. There are steps leading down to the bottom of the falls where you can swim. The is a playground by the parking lot which was great for my little one to burn off some energy before stopping back in the car. The bathrooms were clean but there was only 2/3 stalls and the line was long (as people were changing in/out of swimsuits).
A great park with great views. There are many levels of this waterfall with easy access to the trails to follow it all the way down. Very family atmosphere with pets welcomed as well. A must see and well worth the trip.
This natural beauty landmark is remarkable. It is great to see what all God has created for us. Even though we didn't hike to the bottom of the falls, the overlook is breathtaking. They have picnic areas and a playground for kids to play on. The rangers are always friendly and helpful. Sometimes they may even give your kids a quick education tip. It is great to see them interact with kids.
