We enjoyed seeing St, Joseph Cathedral when visiting Sioux Falls. The architectural style is Romanesque and French Renaissance. The cathedral was built in 1919 - so it is approximately 100 years old.
As one marvels at the beauty of Falls Park and looks to the distance, he is ingrigued by the spires of the Cathedral-hopefully enough to venture over and visit. Don't just view from the outside, step in. This newly restored Cathedral is awe inspiring not only for the sheer size but also the interior. The day we visited there were over a dozen other visitors and no one spoke, making the entire experience simply majestic.
Unreal beauty and architecture. One of the strongest most incredible vibes I have ever felt in my life. We were alone the entire time and the silence and feeling was amazing. I could go on forever...simply a must see when visiting sioux falls. Very impressed.
A truly awesome experience to see the beautiful archeture of the building and even greater beauties await one on the inside.
Beautiful cathedral. It was closed when we stopped by after visiting Falls Park and doing the art walk in downtown. However, the priest came out and was speaking to us all. Wonderful to see this sitting up on the hill when visiting the area. Loved it and will return.
The building is incredibly beautiful, the ushers were friendly and the service quite good.If you like touring the churches of Europe, stop by for a visit and expect to be "wowed" by this phenomenal building. One of the region's great treasures of human accomplishment in architecture and design.
We were at the Cathedral for a concert of a traveling professional choir, and it was a marvelous experience. The cathedral, which is about 100 years old, has recently been restored, is just beautiful, inside and out - cannot be described in words. If it's possible, go see it, and if it's possible, go to a concert there - the sound is phenomenal.
Did not expect to see this type of architecture in Sioux Falls ...very impressive. And the view of the city from the top of the stairs is great !
The recently renovated Cathedral is visually stunning both inside and out. It's 100 year old history can be told in a guided tour or self guided tour. Come in the main, east entrance for the greatest visual impact. It's awesome gothic interior inspires praise. Don't miss the small chapel of the Blessed Sacrament accessible only from the west entrance.
Glad we visited. The cathedral was closed to visitors but the priest happened to be there & was gracious enough to let us in to look around. They keep it locked due to vandalism in the past so be sure to check hours. Worth a visit when in town! Wonderful for architect/religious art buffs and a great place to pray.
