Gym needs more machines. I had to wait 45 min to use the few good ones and another guy waiting on me got pissed and left. It's not worth it. I won't be back.
Best time to go is as soon as they open. Food is not over priced. Fun for the whole family. Also cheap to get in.
To all of you who wonder (and especially Kelly G, who obviously has NO idea) Sulphur residents get a price break because WE approved and PAID FOR this complex with a special assessment. OUR taxes built this place, OUR people run this place, so yes, we give OUR residents a break. That being said we are MORE than happy that we can share this park with anyone who would like to visit. It is a cute little place we enjoy. I would hardly compare the fees and/or facilities to places like Blue Bayou, Six Flags, etc. as SPAR isn't trying to compete with those large for-profit entertainment complexes. SPAR was designed and built to keep Sulphur's residents amused. I've never come across a rude employee, although I've always accepted the swim breaks without question (P.S, it's not just so the life guards can get a juice, it's also to give parents the opportunity to check in with their children while the facility checks to make sure the water is still clean and safe, you should be thanking them and checking on your kids, not throwing a fit over 5 minutes that you can spend reapplying sunscreen instead of getting all bent out of shape) This should be thought of as a small play place, not an amusement park, if you don't want to set yourself up for disappointment. There are I think 2 water slides, a lazy river, a deeper pool, and a get little splash park for pre-k age kids, that's it for "attractions" it's not going to blow you away, but it IS a great place to take a day off with your family if that's what you're looking for :)
Concession stands are the slowest I've ever seen anywhere. Wife waited in line two different times for over thirty minutes and in that time only a couple people got served their food. Finally gave up. Because our two-year old was so hungry we left the park to eat elsewhere. What a shame that we couldn't spend more time there all because we couldn't order anything to eat. My suggestion: Don't go on an empty stomach.
Fun water slides, splash pool, children's play area and a fast flowing lazy river. There were plenty of tubes available to grab and go for the waterslides or lazy river. This place is great no matter what age. Plenty of food, pizza, drinks, ice cream choices to purchase at their facility. You cannot bring your own food into their facility only bottled water. (That was kinda a bummer) We did have a total blast with our grandkids and family. This place offers a great way to cool down. We will definitely go again!!
we go there every year at least two times a year we love it and think it is the best place to go and never have no trouble but it is better to go on Wednesdays, Thursdays so I rate it excellent and everybody should
Olympic size heated pool with swimming lanes. Indoor air conditioned running track, and plenty of parking.
I am a senior citizen who is lucky enough to live in Sulphur, LA. I have been a member of SPAR since the facility opened and find sufficient exercise for a person my age. (73) I enjoy meeting my friends there for water aerobics, and have increased my swimming ability so I feel comfortable swimming in the Louisiana Senior Olympics. Other seniors have other abilities that keep one in good health. Come have a cup of coffee and visit the facility. It is family oriented and the staff is capable and friendly. If you live in Sulphur you just might see someone you know.
Large enough natatorium and venue to host these heavily attended swim meets. Very organized and efficient parking staff. Well attended restrooms and concessions. SPAR has its program put together and they know what their doing in order to run a smooth operation. Other REC districts could use these outstanding Sulphur facilities as a model for their own local parks.
I am in a wheelchair and have a friend helping me impove my strength but we are not getting what we need at Spar. He used to have better free weights at his old gym and a stairmaster. He is losing strength and and the strong cardio and I feel bad for him. So, my kids and friend and I will have to leave and go to a gym that will benefit all of us. We are so disappointed.
