stayed in the old town in a place called guest house fotina 2, Great sunset views from the balcony overlooking the harbour. Great location, plenty of restaurants nearby. Sozopol is a lovely place to stay, went in last week in august and first week in september. Not too busy then but still a great atmosphere. plenty of beaches nearby. Lovely place for a relaxing holiday
Best of both ! Lovely sandy beach and safe sea combined with very quaint old town of Sozopol. Easy airport access and further inland the countryside is steeped in history
Old Town is perfect place for walking. Looks like here in Bulgaria are 2 such places, Old Town in Nessebar and this one. Just walk through it, enjoy set of heritage of centuries. Old Greek, Roman Empire, Byzantine, Bulgarian 2 states, Ottoman Empire, and modern world. Each era left here something
My wife & I had a lovely afternoon on our walking tour, our guide was great, we visited lots of interesting places, ate some great food, great conversation & learned a lot about the area totally enjoyable. Would highly recommend
you can spend a few hours walking thru the old town , see some old ruins , the old houses and a few interesting shops . At the end of it , you can come back by the promenade along the water and have a fine dinning in one of the many restaurants
We were happy for having an opportunity to explore so beautiful ancient city on the peninsula. Old town is cosy and well maintained with clean Black sea. We had nice dinner with national buglarish food which was natural and very tasty, nice wine. Highly recomend
What a great little town, very Greek influenced and has bags of character and charm.Lots of little tavernas to pop in to, cheap food and friendly people The little market was pretty cool.....with ice cream vendors pulling out flavours I've only dreamed of. Great visit
Wooden houses, lovely bars, street food great value and really charming. There is a museum and a castle with really nice walks. We had a really nice chill. I haven't been to sunny beach but this I would guess is at the opposite end of the scale
It is quite nice to take a stroll out to the old town of Sozopol. There was a lot of ongoing renovations at my time of visit but none the less I do recommend a visit.
Its easy to fall in love with Sozopol its not as commercialised or as large as Nessebar or doesnt feel it - but it has some nice shops and restaurants, beach, and necropolis, museum - loads of history here, some quality shops. especially liked the gallery near to the centre - friendly proprietor and mum, nice paintings, pottery etc., also make sure you go to the Casa del Mare restaurant, see Yani the waiter he is great, and the chef is great too. Super food!! The whole of the peninsular is crammed with alleyways and shortcuts, flowers cascading down, beautiful, short walk to the new town, but I am a fan of the old so my heart is in the stara grad part. A must to visit for sure, the archeology is exceptional lots spent here and continuing to be spent!!
