We were part of a tour group and the guide was well-informed. She explained the architecture's symbolism and how this adds to the church's worship experience. That the designer is a woman was a pleasant surprise. Our tour lasted about 1 1/2 hours, but it seems much shorter, as the meaning of lighting, design lines, and color were explained. There so much more to see than is reviewed here. Go see this amazing Art Deco church.
Beautiful church. They were repainting the ceiling in the main auditorium. This was a magnificent building. we had a great tour with some great people who really loved their church. This is really a good place to visit, especially the price, free.
This is an old school building which gives it sooo much charm. The church is located in downtown tulsa and nothing holds a candle to it. The services are not to long and really beautiful.
This is a very imposing piece of art deco architecture, well worth a few minutes look-in. Within walking distance of other downtown destinations.
Boston Methodist church is a very beautiful building inside and outside! The Church staff were friendly and the church service was a bible based service ! The whole building was clean and kept in a regal manner befitting that type of a building!
Visit this beautiful building and discover a warm congregation in the heart of Tulsa. History abounds here in the 1929 structure - take a tour after services on Sunday and discover more of this magnigicant treasure.
Boston Avenue Methodist Church is one the oldest Tulsa landmarks still in existence in downtown Tulsa and renouned for its striking Gothic architecture. The church stretches itself out along a full city block with dormers (and gargoyles) competing with comtemporary structures for the downtown landscape. Boston Avenue Methodist Churh is a member of the Council of Churches and Ministers commemorating the Dr. Martin Luther King holiday each year by candlelight communion and joining hands with the hundreds of marchers through downtown Tulsa. Sundary services are traditional and all are welcome - Methodist or not.
I didn't go inside but it's a must see! Very impressive! The architecture is beautiful!Plus, you can the bells ring on the evening and it made a nice melody :)
Oh, my, what a beautiful structure and magnificent house of worship! I have attended worship services, weddings and funerals at Boston Avenue. If you like, after worship, someone will take you on a tour of the beautiful facilities. If you haven't visited, you have missed a real Tulsa Treasure.
19,16, 10 yo and two adults LOVED this. We were the only ones in the building save the janitor…the prayer chapel is beautiful, the architecture outside is something to marvel and gawk at, the mosaic tile art inside the building, the stained glass, the lighting fixtures, the doors, the ceiling in the sanctuary…the sanctuary itself….we truly ALL were amazed. All three of our kids wanted to go back and call it a highlight of our week long trip traveling from Kansas City through OKC and Arkansas. Highly recommend. We want to attend a service next time through to hear what must be an amazing pipe organ!
