This place has everything! There is tennis, hiking, golf, equipment for kids, if you can't find something to do here your not trying hard enough!
This is a great place to run for all levels of runners and walkers. The trail is clearly marked and loops around the park. There is easy access to the trail. There are a few hills and some shady areas. I've been running here for 20 years. My kids enjoy golfing at LaFortune's public course. There are also swings and pavilions for gatherings.
Lots of things for kids to play on. Swimming pool in summer. Feed ducks at the ponds at the NW, NE, and SW corners of the park. The 5k jogging trail is lighted and goes around the golf course and through the park. I like going jogging here in the winter because I never have to jog into the wind for very long before turning a corner. Not much tree cover during the summer for jogging. Go early, late or go somewhere else or melt in the heat.
I lived in Tulsa for 7 years in the 80's and LaFortune Park was a well known, but often overlooked, landmark. I had a chance to return to Tulsa last month and was quite impressed by LaFortune. The course was in great shape and still low cost. My wife and I walked the 3.3 mile jogging trail which was well maintained. And the park was so clean and well laid out.Sometimes we under-appreciate a treasure just because it is right under our noses. If you have a chance to visit LaFortune, I think you would be pleasantly surprised.
Prompted by a 40th high school reunion, I made it back to LaFortune for a round. The course was in good shape and the facilities are way above where they were 45 years ago.Great value
Love to run in this area. Great parks close by, tennis courts, restaurants very close. Good times to be had by all!!!
It was a chilly and breezy but the family relatives loved the 3 mile walking park, huge size driving range at Golf Course and even a newer style public Library is on Park's Block
This is great place to practice your golf game - huge driving range, really nice area to practice putting & chipping area. Fancy Golf Shop too!
SWMBO and I, who live near LaFortune, are avid golfers, and recently took advantage of a nice day to get in the first round of the year, so I'll be focusing on the golf, but LF has about every kind of athletic facility imaginable, including a regulation croquet pitch, surrounded by a 3-mile walking-jogging track, so unless your exercise regimen tilts towards rock-climbing you're p[robably gonna find it there. Lots of parking, too. The golf course was renovated a few years back, and went from a decent muni marred by flat, boring greens and weed and trash-choked water hazards to something close to a premier layout; there are high-end daily fee courses in town that aren't as fun and challenging to play. The Greens are insanely countered, and putts which break 60 degrees or more aren't rare. The Water hazards were opened up and cleaned up, and water is now in play on more than half the holes. Its in nice condition for the amount of play it gets, the pace of play is decent for the amount of play it gets, and it includes a really nice practice facility, with an excellent large driving range, twin putting greens featuring the same contours as the real ones, and even a decent short-game area.
La Fortune Park is in a great location. There is a lovely golf course with club house and golf shop, several tennis court and a new building with indoor courts is under construction. There is a 3 plus mile walking trail around the park, a library, duck ponds, and live outdoor concerts are offered during the summer months.
