I love the Sun Valley Resort located in Sun Valley, Idaho. I have spent a week in Sun Valley with my family every summer for many years now and there is a reason that my family returns year after year. Sun Valley is a gem that offers families of all sizes an opportunity to relax and have a great time doing a multitude of activities at world class facilities. They offer golfing, tennis, bowling, ice skating, horseback riding, mountain biking, hiking, fishing, and about every other outdoor activity you can think of. The summer weather in Sun Valley is beautiful. The days are warm and the nights are cool. One of the more recent summer activities that I enjoy is listening to the Sun Valley Symphony perform in their beautiful new outdoor venue located on the Sun Valley property. The talent is always amazing and it is hard to beat the beautiful beauty that surrounds the Sun Valley resort. Sun Valley is not cheap, especially during the peak season, but you get what you pay for. There are parts of Sun Valley that are starting to feel a bit tired and rundown but it looks like many areas of the resort will be going through a much needed renovation during the next few years. I don’t know of another place like Sun Valley that offers so many activities and venues located so close together. It is a charming and truly a unique destination.
basically just a traditional offering of normal breakfast items. we ate there twice while staying at the hotel
I love skiing at Sun Valley! The resort is on the smaller side when compared with the mega resorts, but there's plenty of slopes and you won't get bored. It really is a skier's mountain, lots of fall line skiing, NO lift lines, the best snow making in the world, top notch lodges, and really nice people. Baldy is filled with excellent (but older!) skiers. I can't ski an entire day at Baldy because there's no lift lines and very few skiers. I get too worn out. Dollar, the other mountain, is great for beginners and younger children. It's not a cheap place to ski. Lift tickets are in the higher range. You can buy discount tickets at Liftopia, but you have to do it at least a week in advance.All-in-all, it is a wonderful place to ski and stay. Old style charm, friendly people, no crowds. It truly is magical.I'm middle aged, and I hear from some of my younger friends that the area isn't aimed at younger folks. But if you love to ski (there's a few boarders, but not many) and love great conditions, it's perfect for you, regardless of your age.
My title says it all. Good ski rental services and good free bus service in the area. There is no ski in ski out as far as I can see, so the buses are a great help. This is the only place with a beginner terrain park (it was great fun) and for beginner skiers it must be excellent.
Sun Valley is a long standing standard in comfort and casual resorts. I've been coming here for years, but this time, while visiting with a parent who is using a wheelchair, I noticed how many places are still not ADA compliant. I found no ramps in several places, narrow and inaccessible restrooms, and difficult entrances without door openers. Plush surroundings are wonderful to look at, but not so much when you cannot enter.
I would highly recommend celebrating New Year's Eve at the Bubbly Bash party organized by the Sun Valley Center for the Arts. This year party (2014/2015) was at the River Run Lodge. We had an amazing time, we didn't stop dancing till close time which, unfortunately, was at 1 AM. Get your party clothes. (This is not an informal event). Cool people, great music, fantastic atmosphere and HAPPY NEW YEAR (you will not regret it). Buy your tickets in advance. It is a SOLD OUT event every year.
A great time to visit SunValley is Winter, Spring, Summer, Fall! I've enjoyed the Sun Valley resort in all seasons because I lived less than 15 minutes away. The staff are always friendly and provide great service. A few months ago I moved 2,000 miles away to another ski resort but know I'll return for a visit before long!

We just returned from Sun Valley and 5 days at their Jazz Jamboree. The music was wonderful and we had a great time. All you Jazz lovers should put this on your list of must attend. The variety of music was great as it not only included jazz but also big band and the Whiffenpoofs from Yale University (They were one of my favorite groups) Ketcham has many great restaurants to choose from. One of our favorites was the Sawtooth Club. There are several hotels/motels, and condos from which to choose although most of these are in Ketcham which is 2 miles away but very accessible. The only thing that could be improved on is the shuttle service between the various venues. There were too few busses and too few trips daily. Some of the venues are too far to walk to. Not too important if you have a car.
We had the opportunity to stay at the Resort for the Hispanic Youth Symposium. It's such a beautiful place! I absolutely loved it. Hope to return again!
