This museum is a great place to visit, especially if you are a NASCAR fan, it goes through the entire history of the sport and it was very interesting.
From cars to award plaques. It was worth the $16 each which included a track tour. Ticket pick up same building and shout out to William Lamson who has been fantastic with his customer service and answering all my questions about the weekend over the past 6 months.
The place is full of history, yes most of the cars are from NASCAR, but with Talladega Superspeedway just feet away that is understandable. They still have other cars and pieces of racing history on display. Very neat place to visit.
There isn't anything I didn't like about this! Everything is amazing! There's even a room devoted to Dale Earnhardt. There's just soooo much to see!
Being able to walk around and see all the cars in the museum was a true blast. I only wish I had more time to look around. You could spend a full day with no problem. My friend and I had to rush somewhat because his wife was waiting for us, but it was still worth it!
We're motorsport fans (but not particularly NASCAR) and earlier in the day we'd visited the Barber Motorcycle Museum and we expected this to be better, however we were disappointed. There didn't seem to be much logic in how the vehicles were displayed and not much information about them. The gift shop stock was poor, the floors dirty and the staff (throughout museum) weren't particularly approachable or welcoming.
First visit to Talladega Superspeedway Oct 2013 race. Super friendly and helpful staff, a HUGE variety of race vehicles to see, lots of memorabilia and interesting articles...everything from the Budweiser Rocket to quick change axles, flat head ford engines, NASCARs, Modifieds, dragsters, speedboat etc. Easy to spend 2 hours or more marvelling at the original super machinery. A MUST for any visitor to the Superspeedway.
First of all, try not to attempt this on a race weekend as it would not be as good of an experience. We happened to visit on a Friday prior to the following race weekend and there was hardly anyone there, and we had the place practically to ourselves and were able to see everything as well as take the track tour. Everyone who worked there was very nice and helpful. We were able to take our time in the museum and really take everything in. It was fun to see cars from previous years' races and also to see the cars that had been involved in accidents and be amazed at how the driver got out alive. I would highly recommend for race fans.
Wonderful museum with lots of racing memorabilia, including many cars from NASACR, Indy, NHRA and other motorsports organizations. Highly recommended!
I love little museums like this that are off the beaten path. While the NASCAR HOF if huge and is more of a Disney type attraction, this HOF is like the place your school would have taken you for a field trip. Very neat stuff and you can take photos of it all. I like the access...and my only wish is that the gift shop had some vintage items, not just the standard t shirts and stickers.
