Well organised. the reception person was very knowledgeable and able to answer my questions. more personable than the big museums. good value for money.
Been to the Maritime Museum several times of the past years & always learnt something new. It is well done and clean & tidy and all this done by volunteers. Many locals are missing out by not going here, great day for kids to wander through and ask you heaps of questions and nearly all the answers are right there & if not there is a helpful person wanting to answer your question. Displays are easy to follow & read. Anyone who likes to dive should definitely read all about SS Yongala - Eateries over the road so can be a great day all round
numerous displays of the maritime history of Australia and around Townsville. High quality standard taken when developing artifacts.
A very well organised museum. You cannot help but take in the local history and that from WWII. A must for anyone with an interest in maritime history or WWII or the development of the shipping industry
A nice little museum on the southbank, a nice way to take in a bit of the local history mainly centered around WWII. A good way to spend a couple of hours enjoying some of the local maritime, WW2 and the shipping industry history in and around around Townsville.
Spent quite some time at this museum. Reading the maritime history of the area is fascinating. The displays are well set up, I enjoyed the war time information. The volunteer guide was very pleasant.
If you're a nautical buff or like military history, take a walk up Palmer Street and stroll through this great little museum.
A well put together little museum. Well worth a look if your in town. Only $6 entry for adults. Very interesting facts and memoribillia from the Yongala.
great spot very informative loved all the exhibits and also visited longreach, charlaville out back australia great places
This was not only more interesting than the other 'big' museum in town, but has more heart & honesty. Some wonderful treasures here. Well done volunteers, who give their time and their knowledge to ensure Townsville's maritime history comes alive.
