well presented tale of sir henry Parkes, the "father of federation" I especially liked the long table with engravings in glass of quotes of the debate re federation and free trade. the rogues gallery of aussie prime ministers was also enjoyed
Enjoyed his museum very much. Very friendly staff. Allow at least an hour or two. Learnt a lot about the federation of Australia.
Excellent Service!!! Good food and reasonably priced. We had a bit of a sneak peek at some of the other items in the museum, but as it was the weekend, seemed to be closed.
This was well worth the time and I learned a lot about the history of the federation of Australia.
Given that Sir Henry Parkes' rousing 1889 speech to the then colonies of Queensland and New South Wales stirred them into action to begin forming a nation, it was essential that we viewed this attraction. We were not disappointed.Loved the tablet on the front porch commemmorating the famous speech. The building was beautifully restored a decade ago through a 'Centenary of Federation' grant, and it showed. Everything was in tip-top condition.Highly recommended.
The Henry Parkes School of Arts Museum is simply amazing! The friendly and cheerful volunteers Gary and Kathy are knowledgeable in every aspect of the history and surrounds. The cinema is outstanding, Gary even kindly showed us through the cinema's projector room since the conversion from analogue to digital movies. The library highly functional and beautiful and the museum was just incredible. What a place!
interesting to discover historical facts about our Federation. photos
what an amazing town and so much history. This needs to be preserved and luckily the National Trust has bought the old building. The cinema is a great thing to try at night and the history displays are very interesting.
A well managed and focused museum. The exhibits tell the story of the social events leading up to the federation of Australia. Artefacts and texts are displayed in purpose designed rooms with very good interpretive information. Staff are helpful and will informed and provide some very good material to guide your visit.
no good for mobility impaired, lots to look at for others.Plenty of old machinery and history of the area.I had to wait outside while husband checked it out.
